This sounds so awful and I hope that your friend is soon feeling better. I do

not think that anyone could/should be recommending treatment for a serious

problem without first seeing the patient. Perhaps in the first instance she

should be seeking medical attention and then, after the crisis, relying on more

natural care.

It is wonderful to be able to trust in the power of nature, but sometimes

humans have to intervene, and after that intervention then she can use natural

ways to bring her back to complete health

My thoughts are with her and her carers

Regards

Ann - Scotland

My prayers are with your friend! I hope she is on the road to a full

recovery in no time ...

Do we have any Reiki Healing Energy Senders on the list?

  • 7 months later...

I delivered a breech baby with no ceasar. The doctor should know how to

handle such a delivery.

The tric apparently is not touching the baby before his head is out as

touching him causes him to want to breath and then suffocates as he is still

in.

Good luck.

Hi Marti,

Thanks!

Jean decided she did want the caesarean, and went ahead with it. She now has a bouncing baby boy, and everything went fine.

I knew of that website, and offered Jean the phone number, but as I said, she'd decided already.

A couple things that have worked:Eat very spicy food. Gets the baby moving.Lay on a slanted board (I used my ironing board) with mom's head down by thefloor. This can be done by a MD or Midwife: they do a manual rotation (usuallywhile they have the ultrasound going). Be sure to eat spicy food before yougo <g>.Usually, but would want the midwife to verify depending on position of babyand placenta, laying on left side (as in when sleeping).Go to: http://www.gr8birth.com/ which is where my kids were birthed. Thereis a phone number and email listed on the site.Hope this helps.MartiSunland, CA-"Lisa Belcher" <lisabelcher<herbal remedies >Monday, November 18, 2002 11:36 AM[herbal remedies] urgent help needed> Hi guys,>> I just heard a friend of mine is scheduled for a ceasarean tomorrow> afternoon because her baby is breech (she's 38 weeks pregnant)>> I remember hearing of a natural remedy which can help turn a baby> around, but I can't remember what that rememdy was. Hi Lauren,

I tried to tell this to my friend, but she'd already made up her mind, and went ahead with the c-section. She now has a bouncing baby boy, and thankfully everything went well!

Thanks :-)

RE: [herbal remedies] urgent help needed

Try a chiropractor adjustment. Also call the midwives in your area to see if there is anything else that can be done. Just so you know, c-sections are not necessary for breech babies. I was a breech twin and my mom pushed us both out just fine. It's just that the doctors don't like them so they force c-sections on poor moms that don't know any better.

My mother did twins that were both breech & no c-sec. If the trick is to not touch the baby, then I would suggest a waterbirth.

Most (if not all) ob-gyn's would rather not bother with the extra effort a non-surgical breech & if the operation is scheduled for tommorrow, then I suspect that everybody's mind is made up. At least wait until 40 weeks though, all due dates are + & - 2 weeks.

I've had some birth professionals tell me that doctors aren't currently

trained in breech birth and other common scenarios...

" This has often been the stickiest problem. Many doctors just aren't trained

to deliver a breech baby vaginally, and know that it will be much safer for

mother and baby for them to do a cesarean. Even though there was a trend to

offer vaginal breech birth for about the past decade, most breech babies in

the United States have been delivered by cesarean for at least the past 20

years. As fewer and fewer breech babies were born vaginally, fewer

obstetrical residents gained experience with vaginal breech births. As these

doctors went into practice, they were aware they were not proficient at

managing complications that can arise during a breech vaginal delivery.

Between the new recommendations from the American College, and the lack of

experienced physicians, breech vaginal delivery will soon be relegated to

books on the history of obstetrics. "

And yes, her mind was made up, so I didn't manage to help her handle it another way.

Here where I live they aren't keen on delivering natural. When I was in labour with a breech baby, the docs were hovering over me with a consent form for C-section, trying to persuade me to go ahead - not exactly the kind of help you want when you're in labour! I got very upset with it and continued to refuse. Unfortunately my baby got into difficulties, and they had to rush me in for an emergency c-section. I keep thinking though, and wondering, if these difficulties were caused, at least partially, by the constant pressure I was getting to not continue the natural birth process and getting very stressed out. Here I was on the table, trying to have a baby, with the Docs pushing the forms under my nose, trying to get me to sign!

My niece is about to have a baby who's breech, and she's in The Netherlands. I was surprised to hear that the Docs suggested she try naturally first. Very different from the UK!

Anyway, it's all water under the bridge now, as my friend has had her baby now.

Hello Lisa,

Sorry for the late reply. Haven't been on the computer for a few days.

Wendy Savage was an English gynaecologist working in London. I was working in a London law firm at the time so managed to follow the development. My heart bled for her the way her professional reputation was brutally attacked. They seemed hellbend to destroy her despite the support of her patients. As I understood it, after the inquiry she went to work up North somewhere and I wonder if anyone could ever get over what happened if they were treated the way she was. Yes, she was exonerated - She won the battle but not the war.

A kindly soul sent me the following link and I cut and paste the entry here for your convenience:

About The Macmillan Dictionary of Women's Biographyfrom Macmillan Publishers Savage, Wendy (1935) English obstetrician and gynaecologist. Educated at Croydon School for Girls, Girton College and London Hospital Medical College, Wendy Savage has had a long and distinguished career practising and lecturing on obstetrics and gynaecology, including several years in Nigeria and Kenya in the 1960s.

A champion of women's rights to choices in childbirth and fertility, her natural approach to delivering babies meant that she was suspended from her job as consultant gynaecologist at the London Hospital in 1985. This was in spite of the fact that examples of her alleged misconduct were actually refuted by her 'patients'.

Savage fought her suspension and was eventually reinstated 15 months later after a six week public enquiry which rejected claims of her incompetence. Savage had taken on the male-dominated medical establishment and won. She was vindicated and became an inspiration to women doctors.

She has published numerous scientific papers as well as several books which include Hysterectomy ( (1982)) and A Savage Enquiry: Who Controls Childbirth? ( (1986)). She has four children of her own.

Hi Anna,

I've only been in England since 1995, so that's probably why I've not heard of this. There is an institute here now promoting natural child birth, so maybe things are changing here. I do know that hospital births are common here, whereas in The Netherlands (where I am from) home births are common. So there is a definite difference.
