Cleansing your crystals

Hello all,

My question for the day is...

What is your preferred method to clean your crystal/stones/rocks? In

this last month or so I have read so many different ways to do this.

Now I want to know what the experts do.

I have been putting my newly aquired collection in indirect sunlight

but direct moonlight for 3 cycles. If you bury them in the earth is

mulch/topsoil OK or should I find an area that we haven't put down

topsoil? Our soil is bad here so to be able to grown anything we have

to bring in good soil to mix it up with our crappy soil. Could I put

them in a pot in my garden and have my own crystal pot?

OK I know, more than 1 question.

Thanks for the info,

Teresa

If I have the time, I like to lay my crystals on a plastic mesh

screen or plain cloth and lay them on the ground in rainy

weather so the rain can wash them and the earth can cleanse

them. Under a tree or bush is even better so direct sunlight

doesn't bleach amethyst or rose quartz. I leave them out for 24

hours.

I also really like to bathe my crystals in a special herbal

brew. I brew mugwort, white sage, and rosemary into a tea, let

it cool to room temperature, pour it into a big bowl and bathe

the rocks in the solution. They love it, and the atmosphere of

the house is cleansed and refreshed, too, from the scented

steam! And me, too, from having my hands in the solution. I soak

them for perhaps five minutes. Sometimes I use sweetgrass, white

sage, and rosemary instead.

Most rocks are okay in the tea. If it's a stone that eventually

dissolves in water, like selenite or calcite, I just dip it and

dry it. I wouldn't soak soft or water-containing rocks such as

opals. I just dip and dry. I also don't put copper-based ores

(peacock ore, chalcopyrite) in the solution. Of course, halite

(rock salt) is out of the question. But really, I don't have any

problems with the short baths I give my rocks.

Teresa,

I sometimes use copal incense, but find that what is easiest, less stressful to

the crystals, and (frankly) faster, is to use intent.

If working with one specific crystal, I hold it, squeeze it gently, release

pressure, blow on it with clear intent to clear.

When I have loads to clear, I place my hands over the crystals, and run the

self-clearing shakti that was part of Peggy's attunement that she gave over a

year ago! I ask that the shakti " run to completion " and let the crystals be.

It's a simple, and perhaps lazier, way to clear a big batch at once.

Namaste,

Sally

Most of the time, when I have worn a small crystal as a necklace or in my

pocket and I feel that it needs to have a 'day off', I place in on to a

large piece of amethyst. This seems to work for me.

Great topic!

I leave my crystals by the window where they can get

sun and moonlight all the time.

After a healing or meditation session, I put them

outside to get sun, moon, wind, and rain directly.

Usually that's enough to keep them clear and sparkly.

But I have three stones that have gone a little

dark. I've done the above, I've buried them, set them

in water for weeks, set them in salt for weeks. I'm

getting ready to try serious cleansing meditation with

them.

Any suggestions?

Two of them went dark during a healing session wherein

the patient felt a claw digging into his shoulder,

where the stones were. This helped him immensely at

the time.

The third stone is a little citrine sphere. I have

two of them and I dont' know why one has gone cloudy.

The kittens love to bat them around, so maybe it

sucked something out of a kitten.

I've moved my big amethyst cluster out of the sun

because it seems to be losing its rich deep purple

color. It's from Brazil. Does anyone know if this is

natural or if losing its color means it was dyed? I

have some little amethyst clusters that I put outside

at my altars and they lost their color quickly.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Light, love, and laughter,

Lorelei

Yes, sunlight will cause amethyst to lose its color. (Pink

quartz, too, I think.) Moonlight works, however, and salt, and

earth, and rain.

I loved the image of the kitties batting around the citrine

sphere - maybe I'll try my spheres with Kitty :-)

I have a big file of cleansing methods on my web pages and I post it

here occasionally. I usually use intention and the crystal clearing

shakti and also sunlight and moonlight .

I think a lot of folks do far more cleansing than is really needed and

the only time I have ever found a rock that really needed and wanted

to be buried in the Earth it had belonged to a rapist and murderer .

I cleansed a collection that had been in a Juvenile offender treatment

center for a year and even those stones were easy to clean with

intention , shakti and breath ( we experimented with various methods )

Even the rocks from Dachau did not want to be buried in Earth for

total cleansing though some of that was because they were witness

stones. our long file on clearing crystals is at

http://solarraven.com/file-11-clear.html

Hi, I don't consider myself an expert by any means, but this is the

method I use to cleanse my crystals. All new ones get the 'full

treatment' which starts with Reiki-ing them individually. Some seem

to need more time than others, probably something to do with where

they came from. Then they go on a quartz or amethyst cluster in the

window (the amethyist is in the shade). I usually keep them there

one day and one night....ones I think might need more exposure I'll

leave there till the full moon comes and after that they seem

happy. ;) The last step is placing them on my Kuan Yin altar. Some I

can actually place on the statue I have, the others I place in front

of her. They stay there a few hours to a few days....I can kind of

sense when they are done. Then again, some just get the Reiki and are

fine. I really feel the salt is too harsh, (my opinion only). I

agree with Peggy that they really don't need that much cleansing. I

like to do the above first time though, just so my new friends will

know they are loved :)

After using them, if anything, a quiet rest at Kuan Yin's feet is all

they need. My Reiki will often just kick in when I pick up a crystal

that needs some clearing.....a bonus for it :)) I tend to follow the

KISS method, Keep It Simple Stupid (tho I substitute Sweetie for the

stupid). I think it is mostly personal preference and intuition...

and a big measure of intent.

Bright Blessings, Barbara
