Guest guest
Hello James, Can you give us a source, or sources, for your claims about the dangers of sorbitol? Sorbitol is a naturally occurring substance found in fruits such as apples, sweet cherries, plums, pears, prunes, and peaches. If it is " toxic " as you say, then all of these fruits are toxic. Are you in favor of banning these fruits from the human diet? In fact, there's no evidence that sorbitol consumption produces symptoms any worse than gas, diarrhea, and associated abdominal pain. (See http://www.cnn.com/2000/HEALTH/children/01/18/juice.safety.wmd/ http://www.cspinet.org/foodsafety/labeling_sorbitol.html ) If you've ever eaten too many cherries, you have probably felt the laxative effects of consuming too much sorbitol. It is so toxic that it cannot even be used as a preservative in tubes of blood. When they tried to so use it, it immediaately broke down the bllod cells. It, along with benzoates is amongst the most toxic of prservatives in use today. A preservative would not preserve anything if it didn't kill everything that has life or metabolism in it. Sorbitol stimulates autoimmune response against the bodies own tissues. When you read the list of ingredients on a product if anything listed has >> Jock Doubleday Natural Woman, Natural Man, Inc. Guest guest
Dear Jock, That sorbitol causes the breakdown of blood samples is ancient history. I was taught in medical school biochemistry 40 years ago that sorbitol was the metabolic iniator of atherosclerotic change in the media of the arteries. That could possibly however, since been disproved. Who Knows? It is a fact that we with CHz as a result of sensitization by Aspartame react with violent autoimmune flares upon exposure to sorbitol or any of its derivatives. We are like canaries in the coal mine because of our sensitivities. We notice stuff before anyone else will. The fact that sorbitol is present in many natural healthy fruit products does not necessarily make it safe to use as an isolate. For example, just about all of the “excito toxins” are normal food components, and even endogenously generated neuro transmitters. When used as isolates, wherein they are then flooded over into areas where they don’t belong metabolically, and physiologically, they do immense damage. I do not react unfavorably to any of the delicious fruits you mentioned, except as they are pesticide contaminated, but I do have violent, and serious autoimmune flare when exposed to sorbitol and its derivatives. We all have to do what makes the best sense to us based on information including our own personal and accumulated group experience. So if my warning serves only to alert you to a “possible”, that’s fine anyway. Sincerely, Dr Jim Bowen --- jockdoubleday wrote: > Hello James, > Can you give us a source, or sources, for your > claims about the dangers of > sorbitol? > Sorbitol is a naturally occurring substance found in > fruits such as apples, > sweet cherries, plums, pears, prunes, and peaches. > If it is " toxic " as you say, > then all of these fruits are toxic.
