Guest guest
I have a challenge. (Even more than the burns. J ) I will be working with a very gifted almost 6 year old boy. These are a brief sampling of his “issues” : Tactile Sensitivity: ½ the time over sensitive other under…not simple case of one or the other. Distressed at ADL’s such as face washing, hair brushing; hot cold etc Under responsive/seeks sensation: Makes noise for noise’s sake. Hyperactive, Some repetitive motion. Wants to be touched a lot. Auditory filtering/sensitivity: Can’t function if there is a lot of noise. Speaks in loud voice when everything is quiet. Sensitive to loud noises Visual Sensitivity/processing: Has visual acuity, refractive, ocular motility and binocular integration issues that are being treated with vision therapy. Gross Motor: Behind for his age. Very challenging but has good self image in this area Attention Issues: Always had incredibly long attention span, until recently. Since binocular vision has emerged he has become very distractible. Can’t stay focused on activities he loves. Emotional stuff: Needs to know what to expect. Needs advanced warning if anything out of ordinary will happen or will melt down. Difficult with transitions. Very strong attachment to parents. Needs lots of decision making control. Difficult recovering from disappointment or frustration. I have to be sure that he doesn’t have ANY sense he has any problems. He is EXTREMELY astute and will understand everything I say and ask questions if he does not. He must be engaged as if it is a game to teach him new ways to do things, Like better trampoline bouncing or better imaginary games with his mother or something he really loves. He gets very worried immediately if he thinks something is wrong with him (even a bruise can send him into hysterics for fear it means something terrible). So Guys, my bag of tricks is energy medicine, and EFT. How the hell am I going to do this without setting off alarms? And how can I help him the best? I’m a quick learner so any ideas will be appreciated. Lari Ward
