BTW, In qiGong the center is defined as the verticle axle connecting heaven and earth beginning at the HN1 point at the top of the head [GV 1]. The dan tien is the center of the verticle line, the hinge point connecting the keel and the mast. It's power is comes from Nothing, the creative void. The secret to using the dan tien is to keep it empty and open and the chi will flow. BTW The location of the dan tien is 3 fingerwidts below the navel, not 3 inches, more like one and 3/4 inches. rusty - kahunamaker Tuesday, August 01, 2006 2:25 PM Tan Tien technologies for Beginners --- shae matthews <smathos1 wrote: > In acupuncture theory there is a point three inches > bellow and an inch and a half behind the belly button > called " dan tien " this sounds like the chi one spot > your talking about. Well, maybe, and maybe not. Definitions, and more definitions. It might be called common sense, but it is not correct except for the 2nd stage of competency. And there are 5 levels of competency. Being in this low level of stage 2 should only be for a minute or less. Then you go into the beginnings of the 3rd stage of competency, which, depending on who you study with and how kinesthetic (propioceptives) you are. For start of the beginner's level, refer back to my other post. Adding a small bit to that, some of the energies that need to be connected BEFORE even a valid level 2 of competency is achieved are; the belt line flows (all 3 of them), the Radiant Circuits (all 10 of them), the energy in all the joints normalize, and the Central Meridian and Governing Meridian hookup, along with the correct hypnotic affirmations. Then you might be able to get started doing that tan tien technologies correct. Then again, " correct for what specifically? " , might be an interesting question. And covering it from the point of view of experience, vs talk, vs reading might also be interesting.
