Guest guest
I think we need to be cautious of using wu wei zi in signs of deficiency heat due to its warming nature which would further consume yin. Yes, but according to Bensky Wu Wei Zi is also used to " generate fluids; enrich Kidney Yin; it can be used for spontaneous sweating, night sweats, or even waisting and thirsting diseases; quiets the spirit and calms the heart... due to injury to the blood and yin of the heart and kidneys " . I'd want to use something to solubilize the lemon essential oil to make VERY sure someone didn't get a drop of it directly on their skin... other than that, of course you can.... Guest guest
> California Doings Thank you Greg for the update on the California Bills. The following is only my opinion and not the feelings of the acupuncture community as a whole. AB-1113 I agree AB-1113 seems a big fight. Probably well worth it. I just caution in my opinion that the profession be careful in the " diagnosis " that we just don't adhere to the AMA and insurance company's attempts to mold us into copies of themselves. AB-1114 I have issue with it even if it is a battle. Increasing hours both in education and continued education implies that the profession has committed some risk to public safety by not being well educated. There has been no such instance of increase public safety risk. In fact the numbers have either stayed the same or reduced as more licensed acupuncturists have entered the arena. Point number two, and it is a big one, the costs to the profession. right now we have one of the highest dollar per CE unit of any health profession. as a matter of fact it is higher than most any profession that requires CE units - even lawyers. this really has no business being directed to the Little Hoover Commission as it does to the providers of CE units. They, through their greed and a a compulsory captive clientele, have us by the short needles, so to speak. This is another issue and should be addressed by the acupuncture community as a whole - We are not going to take it any more. If AB-1114 passes we may be looking at close to if not over a couple of thousand dollars for CEU's. May not seem like much, but with malpractice insurance increasing, employee costs and business insurance going up, weakened economy, etc. etc, the small clinic starts feeling the pressure as many western doctors have felt and may be forced to also look at the large medical conglomerates to survive only this time it will be large acupuncture conglomerates. Not a pretty future. AB-1115 Not a bad idea in practice, just as long as it doesn't lesson or belittle the profession. AB-1116 I agree, there is no justification as far as public safety goes to warrant we to become just like the western doctors. If we want to practice that medicine then hang up your needles and become a western doctor. AB-1117 This just sounds like another attempt to be " politically correct " . in case no one remembers ... even Indians (of the east) were once considered " Asian " This just seems to be the overuse of black ink. Is it too much? AB- 1549 and SB-536 both have my support and have been a long timer in coming. In closing, as well as the CEU issue I talked about above, I would like to see some more effort be put into addressing the MediCare acceptance of acupuncture issue. It is still at a standstill after so many years. I would also like to see the California worker's comp insurance companies' issue surrounding their denial of claims be resolved. As it stands many companies are denying claims due to a report made by an out of state physical therapist's school report. This is just wrong. As stated earlier these are just my opinions, a simple country doctor. I do what i can, write my Senate and Congress people and try and keep my folk healthy for a reasonable price.
