I can see several answers to the first question.

How to overcome limitations.

Using simple methods to incease energy flow.

To the second: Just as I something similar to days like today when it was 70'

two days ago and today its 17' and I have a hard time getting motivated to

exercise - getting the energy to flow helps your overall outlook and by

stimulating the physical, mental and emotional energies, you are able to

continue with your day.

Doc -

I think your point is:

First -- listen to yourself! Monitor you states.

There might always be a bit of a drain, going from a extended mental,

studying state, to a burst of physicality. Notice your energetic

states, and take the time to do the drills.

I've been doing 12 hour work days for a few months now, and it's

amazing what I can accomplish if I pay attention to my energy levels.

(and since I'm fire working with all metal elements, I can really

burn out trying to keep up with their concentration spans.)

If I don't pay attention, and don't do my drills, I turn into a

surly, snapping bitch. (to put it lightly)

But, if I take an hour, go to the gym, do drills throughout the

workouts, do drills in the morning and through the day, I can (as a

strong fire element) work 14 hour days, no problem.

Thanks Doc!!

When my energies are screwed up I can’t even find the motivation to do anything...much less do it effectively. Even though I KNOW I SHOULD do the energy drills to fix it I don’t even WANT to do that!

So what I do is usually “trick” myself into starting it and then use the momentum to carry me through. I’ll just say “Well I’ll JUST do the 3 thumps” and I do them. After that I feel a little better so I’ll tell myself “Well now I’ll JUST do the cross crawl” and I feel even better and so on and so forth.

Eventually I’ll work myself through an entire energy routine and when I’m finished I feel completely positive, energized, and enthusiastic about doing the things that I need to do.

I did 15 of them and I felt pretty damn tired.

Which is NOT normal for me.

So I just did two energy drills that I know very well how to do, but rarely feel the need to do.

I did a 'jump-start' on my meridian system, making sure those energies were running forward in the natural way.

That process took about 30 seconds.

Then I made sure that the energy from my right brain hemisphere was going to the left side of the body and that the energy from the left hemisphere was going to the right side of the body.

It took about 2 minutes, give 10 seconds or so.

I then went and effortlessly popped off 35 pushups with no stress, strain or tiredness.

What is this post about, group?

Why is the above very important?

I had someone ask me the other day, "What's the difference between burnout and flameout?"

A great question. And truly relevant to my Fire even though the questioner doesn't know anything

about the elements. But he could see I was past burnout.

Doc, you have so much physical energy. And you are organized. And you have arranged your

life to support your healthful practices. It is more difficult for me to stay on

track when I'm always getting distracted by the next shiny thing. Having a tendency to want to do it ALL,

I tend to keep going to exhaustion and then crash. But I learned (again) that a few minutes being still and

breathing can make all the difference. And this weekend, I had to cancel a trip, but I told my family that I

am not here and thus unavailable for caregiving. My Earth is WAY grumpy and overextended.

I like what Lily Tomlin said: For rapid relief, try slowing down.

So, one way to do the drills and get the skills is through action. But the other was is by stopping and

just being, breathing, doing what the world perceives as nothing. Too often even with our alternative

practices, I see myself and others get driven, stressed--acting like human doings instead of human beings.

I wonder why people in this world now have to ask how to breathe and relax? How did we let it come to

this? How can we help each other slow down? There's a story that Gandhi was once hurried by a friend

on an especially busy day, and that he replied that because he was so busy, he needed to meditate longer

than usual. Be still. Get into your body. Then you will just flow into the exercises.
