Guest guest
This is the general problem with the description and location of most ALL points. One needs to focus on the 'channel' on one level.........WHICH IS simply BETWEEN two muscles. And that is why the ancients and many modern sources state locations very vaguely. I have not re-written ST-36 and with time permitting - will do so but I believe once you/we see the reasoning here YOU can do it yourself. Take the example of LU-5. I have stated this before on another group and maybe here BUT I will repeat it. ALL the texts state that the point is in the cubital crease - medial to the tendon. But how much medial? 1/2 ACI, 1 ACI, 1 1/2 ACI???? Therein lies the same discussion. So here is my very brief rendering of HOW all points should be triangulated considering that I am not an anatomy specialist. Still you get the idea. Richard LUNG-05 CHI ZE INCOMPLETELY LOCATED AS: Located on the cubital crease of the elbow, in the depression at the radial side of the tendon of biceps brachii. MORE ACCURATELY LOCATED: Located on the cubital crease of the elbow in the depression between the ulnar edge of the brachioradialis muscle and the radial edge of the flexor carpi radialis muscle; and radial to both the bicipital aponeurosis and approximately 1cun medial (TCM anatomical reference) to the biceps brachii muscle. NOT AT the biceps brachii tendon and/or NOT SLIGHTLY medial to the biceps brachii tendon. In a message dated 9/28/0 9:47:55 AM, inandor writes: << Dear Gye. I remember that once you asked about the proper localisation of ST-36. Well... it is my turn now :>) I have been finding ST-36, 3 ACI bellow ST-35 and about ONE ACI lateral to the edge of the tibia. I can even say that the " men " is right there!! But yesterday i gave a look at Worsley's book, and it seems that he doesn't mention this ONE ACI LATERAL thing. He says: " lateral to the edge of the tibia " . Some practicioners here (TCM-BRAZIL) find it almost touching the edge of the bone - as depicted in Worsley's book. In fact, one can find another " depression " there - vey close to the tibia. Does anyone has any insight regarding this issue? Sorry for the " mediocrity " of the question - for some. But there is another possibility which is " between a bone and a muscle " like SI-6 and SI-7 and Spleen -6... So the question then is: Do you find ST-36 between the two muscles (I dont want to look up the proper names right now...), or between the tibia and the muscle? It seems to me, that some pt clearly find it between the bone and the muscle, whille others tend to locate it between the muscles. When I questioned an instructor, upon seeing him treat this point, he said: I follow the same orientation of a Chinnese healer of 5 generation descendence of practicioners - almost touching the bone. So... here I am... Thanks again...
