I would use Dr. Tan's methods of mirror and image formats. Go opposite limb on

opposite side (if right leg go to left arm) and palpate for ashi points along

all the channels from blow the ankle/wrist to the hip/shoulder and needle the

ashi points. If you can get him to pinpoint where the pain is you can get more

specific with the balancing meridians and locations. I recommend reading his

book or going to his classes. They will transform your practice!

I think you could choose the point of scale acupuncture at limb feeling

area! Left leg, takes right leg feeling area, right leg, take left leg feeling

area, the same practice for the arms.

There are a number of ways to treat this. You can roll up a towel and treat

the points where the pain is as if the towel was the limb. I've never had

occasion to try this, but people have told me it works.

You should also be able to try opposite limb needling.

Pain=qi and blood stagnation. Since there is no limb there, I would think

it would be mainly qi stagnation. Move qi!

The best thing for phantom limb pain in the arm in particular is a mirror box.

Vilayanur S. Ramachandran invented it get your client to get a mirror and a

cardboard box.

Seeing the other hand move in a mirror image tricks the brain and helps

integrate and solve the problem.

Also of course korean hand therapy and auricular therapy can be effective.
