I have been going through Gallo's (editor) Energy psychology and psychotherapy. There is a really inspiring chapter on dynamic energy healing and trauma and soul work. They use a wide variety of methods including yoga and Tibetan bells and so on. I believe you understand something (or quite more than something) about balancing energies. How do you understand positive and negative energies in the general sense, and what would you use as a way to balance the hemispheres using your version of energy work? Staying high Clive Clive, Maybe this conversation from another energy list will help with understanding. Xxxxx, Great post. I understand exactly where you are coming from. I too used to use the positive-negative model you are using. Thanks for the opportunity to share a little more. There is nothing wrong with using the model you are using. It is a useful model and it works well. The energy model is simply more in line with the discovery statement than a positive flow and a negative flow in the opposite direction. I will say here and at the end, use what whatever model is working for you. It is not wrong as long as it gets the results you want. This is just another way of looking at the issue. If you ever get in a situation where these concepts will work better then use them. Both the model of positive and negative and the energy model of flow and resistance are not true or the truth. They are simply models designed to explain how something might work. What really matters is getting the results you are wanting or being paid to get. Below are some more thoughts to consider. Thank You! Note: as I said in my previous email this is only a SLIGHT shift in thinking and yet it has some very useful applications... The energy model simply moves one step up before positive/negative. What if what you term " negative " , in the energy model, is only an absence of the flow? The flow is neither and both positive/negative at the same time. In the energy model there is either the flow or not the flow or in other words positive and " not positive " (We label " not positive " negative, when in actuality it is the absence of positive.). If we were to describe it from a Spiritual point of view or Taoist view point good/evil, yin/yang came from God or oneness or the Tao before it separated. Oneness is both yin/yang, positive/negative with no preference for what shows up. (From a spiritual POV positive/negative is created by the mind (ego) to create separation. From a Oneness POV positive/negative are the same thing- two sides of the same coin. What gives them value is preferring one over the other.) In the energy model ( http://www.achieve-your-potential.com/behind-it-all.html ) the flow is the flow (all there is).The ONLY way " no flow " (negative) can happen is a block or a disruption in the flow. There are not two equal sources of flow and no flow. There are not equal sources of positive and negative. In the energy model life is the source of energy flow. The only thing we could say is a source of negative is a disruption or a block (some sort of resistance.) . Mentally we have labeled the absence of what we want as negative but before the labeling takes place it is either flow or " no flow " . The discovery statement as Callahan, Craig and others put forth is this " The cause of all pain, disease, suffering or discomfort (negative emotions) is a disruption in the energy (flow). They did not discover an opposite or equal flow in the other direction, i.e. positive/negative. The discovery statement is not, " the cause of all pain, disease, suffering or discomfort is another flow of energy going in the opposite direction. " (We, including I, projected positive/negative onto the discovery statement.) I also used to teach reversal of flow. I still do sometimes when I am dealing with clients and using Energy Medicine and I don't want to take the time to educate the client. And yet on this list where we are edumcating ourselves I suspect the only way reversal could happen is through some sort of resistance (i.e. block, constriction or disturbance). It can be perceived as flowing the opposite way when in more likelihood it is the absence of what we want. Your examples below work well from the positive/negative concept. It also works from the energy model. Block the flow in a chakras and it will spin the opposite direction not because there is a negative flow only because the positive is not present. Physical strength is stronger when the flow is flowing and weaker when the flow is block or restricted-constricted. (The flow being blocked or constricted should test weaker with the MRT because you could consider the difference in number, what we are labeling weaker, as simply less flow or flow constriction.) Strength/weakness seems possible to be more a test of alignment/non-alignment (openness-closeness) with the energy flow vs two different flows. Your examples seem to lend credibility to the energy model concept of flow resistance instead of flow reversal. If there really was a negative flow or energy reversal... When the positive flow is 180 on " I am happy " and only 80 on " I am sad " . (This indicates a block or resistance or constriction, not a reversal of flow.) A negative flow-reversal would be something like 180 on " I am happy " and -180 on " I am sad " . The energy model suggest the difference between 180 and 80 is the constriction or resistance of 100, not negative energy going in the opposite direction. This can also apply to all the other test you mentioned. You are correct that a negative thought creates a resistance which you have termed a reversal*. I also agree (and don't know where I disagreed) that a positive thought is in line with the flow. Again using the terms positive/negative the flow would be positive and the resistance would be negative. And yes polarities (positive/negative, want/don't want) are created any time we have a preference of something being different than what it is or make a judgment (which is a stronger identification with a preference, excluding other possibilities). *You are using the term " energy reversal " in conjunction with a negative thought. I suspect it is not a reversal. One negative thought can start to create a disruption-block (resistance) in the energy flow. One negative thought is just the beginning of the creation cycle. One negative thought by itself has very little effect, it is not the disruption. It requires more similar thoughts, thinking in other words, so that the disruption can build up to have an effect on the energy flow. That is the main point of " The Power of Positive Feeling, Taking Positive Thinking to the Next Level " . Thoughts create but feelings determine the manifestation of what is created in thinking. The discovery of Energy Psychologies (EP's) has finally given us a way to jump vibrational levels vs. having to move up the vibrational ladder so we can get very quickly into the most useful and effective frequency to get what it is we say we want. EP's can actually stop one vibration and start another higher frequency and skip many in between. This is fantastic and exciting news. The term " reversal " came from the term Psychological Reversal (PR), not energy reversal. A PR is a combination of thinking (more than one thought) and emotions (Feelings) locking together so that the energy system perceives something different than what the mind thinks should be. In other words it is a big block in the energy flow or system (a belief that has gone unconscious). A PR is a combination of a mind/body gestalt verses separate thoughts and feelings. A PR is a Psychological Reversal on the mental level and yet it is only an energy block in the energy system. I am making a distinction between the Psychological (mind) and the energy system. Here is an analogy The points we use in any of the Energy Psychologies (EP) can be likened unto Circuit Breakers in a Circuit Breaker box). If the light is out in the bathroom and we change the light and it still doesn't come on we go to the Circuit Breaker box. (The reason the light doesn't come on is not because the electrical energy is flowing backwards in the opposite direction it is because somehow a disruption/block or resistance has been introduced to the energy system. When we activate the Circuit Breakers it does not reverse the flow of energy it simply pushes energy through the resistance/block and allows the flow to go on its' way. Thus we have light.) Here are some conclusions to consider... 1. All thoughts, including affirmations, carry an energy charge 2. What increases the energy charge to potential resistance is additional thoughts along the same line. 3. What increases the energy charge to the level of disruption, block, constriction (resistance) is feeling (emoting). 4. The only way anything can be brought into the physical (manifested) is by the thinking and feeling to align, either with the flow or to block the flow. We either get what we want or the lack of what we want. 5. We do not have to eradicate so called " negative " thinking only reduce it and increase positive feeling, which will increase what we call " positive " thinking. All manifestation requires at a " minimum " is 51% in alignment vs 49% out. 6. To get what we want, focus more on how we feel than what we think. 7. Using EP's allows us to easily use our feelings as indicators of where our thinking is helping to block the flow. 8. The Key to Positive Thinking is more Positive Feeling and visa-versa. 9. To get our goals (what we want) use thinking and feeling to stay in alignment with the flow instead of blocking the flow. 10. If it FEELS GOOD, FEEL IT! Again as I said before this is just another model that can take the pressure of, reduce seriousness and provide more flexibility, more observation and calibration and less judgment of ourselves and others. It is designed to be more useable by suggesting - making adjustments in feeling and thinking and using both positive and negative as indicators vs. a model that says eliminate one way of thinking over another. After all it is all just energy. The Energy Model is designed to remove personalization from the equation (or at least give some space) so that blame, shame and guilt (considered negative emotions in general and big blocks, constrictions and resistance) can be removed from the system. Please understand if using a model different than the one I suggest is working for you and answers all the questions that come up... Continue to use the model. This is just another model, another way out of many ways to describe the undescribable truth-reality-actuality. If you find this model useful... use it. If you ever need a model that is more encompassing or unifying, please consider this one. Again this model is no more true than any other model. No model is true, they are just models. As my Grampa Vetter said, " If something is actually the truth, it really doesn't matter if you believe it or not. That is where humans get hooked. They think their model is true and not just a model. " Use it until you need another model and then quickly use the other model.
