Guest guest
Good afternoon to all:)! I can affirm this first hand! I had my tubal ligation in 1988 when they did my third c-section. We were in Italy as my husband was stationed there. Within four months my PTS was so bad that my base doctor told me he thought I had PTS, before then he was not putting a name to it, and they were willing to send me to the U.S Army's Women's Medical Dept. At the U.S. Base hospital in Wiesbaden, Germany...the Stork's Nest was the nickname, TO UNDO the surgery and reconnect the tubes. My husband had a livid fit and refused. The Dr. Said he (my husband) could get a vasectomy and he said no way in hell was he doing that...that what was done and was done and I would have to live with it.. this is a decision I have regretted ever since. We divorced in 1991. I have had problems ever since Aug. 1988, when it was done...my periods were very regular outside of my being pregnant before then...but after that they never were...and now, though it is probably not really related, I I have been diagnosed with multiple fibroid tumors after almost 8 years of problems that have slowly gotten a bit worse each year. I will not take their Provera medicine, and they want me to have a hysterectomy AND they want to remove my ovaries at the same time they remove my uterus..even though the tests, including Trans-vaginal ultrasound, show they are very healthy. I will not let them do this to me as it will throw me into immediate menopause...they say they have meds for that...My mom is a 7 year survivor of breast cancer that her family doctor as well as her surgeon told her was result of being on HRT for almost 15 years...she was 49 at diagnoses, and 34 when they did the hysterectomy for fibroid tumors on her. Get this...my OBGYN said that it was not possible, based on a new 7yr. Study, to get cancer from HRT meds...I told him she was a 7 year survivor and that her surgeon and her family doctor (I named them and he knew the surgeon, as he is well respected in our area) said it was based on tests they did that they made that determination. ..then, when I kindly was insistent and let him know I did not believe him, he asked me how long she took them...I told him...then he said there was no way of telling how almost ANY drug would affect the body after 15 years. Of continual use and he conceded it was possible. Finally, I broke down and told him (when he started the doctor spiel about the Provera, insisting I did not understand medicine) that I was a C.M.A. And had passed meds for nine years and I told him that to be a C.M.A. We had to take pharmaceutical courses as well as a bit of basic anatomy...and that each of the two places I worked at passing meds during those nine years required us to get a PDR every year of our own, just like he had on his desk. He looked a bit exasperated at that point...not mad, just like he was out of options...LOL, they say medical people and most especially doctors are the most difficult patients in the world...LOL, I am one and I know it. Anyway, he tell me that he will give a hormone pill to me, progesterone...I say it HAS to a natural form of progesterone...he hesitated just a moment then told me this was not Provera and to just take it...that it was only 10 pills a month and if it did not work, we would have to see about surgery anyway. Then as I was leaving he actually told me in a really kind way to do myself a favor and to NOT READ the medicine insert. Ok...I go to Walgreens and fill it...I ask the pharmacist when I pick it up if it is all natural...he looked and said no, we have no all natural hormones available here...I was so upset...I explained why...then he told me what I wanted was a licensed pharmacist who specialized in all natural bio-compounds and he put me in touch with one an hour away in Jackson TN. THAT pharmacist was really appalled that my doctor wanted to put me on a hormone based on an ultrasound and NOT on my bodies levels...see, I keep telling the doctors here for two years now I think part of the problem is I have started going into menopause...anyway, I know it is a long process...not a one night deal (unless I let them take my uterus.. All of this was ion January of this year. We are self employed with no health insurance, and I can't afford the surgery anyway...but even if I could, I don't want it. Also, they are talking about possible blood transfusions due to severe bleeding during my menses every 3-4 month, and very severe anemia. I have a cycle for the last two years...One month will be real light and short, second month a little heavier but still really normal, their month will be either bit heavier with some small clotting or very, heavy profuse bleeding with a lot of large clots and I get dizzy and am sleepy ALL the time I am on it and I flood through everything and wear pads and tampons at the same time and can't leave the house...no joke. If the third month is not bad then the fourth one will be...then the cycle starts all over. The OBGYN my family doctor referred me to told me I am so anemic that I have to take iron pills to build my blood up because I am so anemic the hemoglobin has also become affected.,..well, I can't tolerate the iron tablets, they make me sick and constipated and and when I have taken them they never helped much and the doctors I dealt with in the past told me that some people don't absorb them as they are not in a natural form...I had an Italian doctor tell me to drink 4-6 ounces daily of a dark red medicinal wine during last three months each of my last two pregnancies...he said this small amount would not hurt the baby or me and would help me absorb iron better since the wine was a natural source of vitamin C and also had other health benefits. I talked to my American base doctor who actually AGREED...I was blown away and so was my husband because this is NOT what is taught state-side at all...not even in the 1980's. Anyway....the proof was in the pudding because it did work!!!! My anemia improved dramatically. Also, when passing meds some of the Doctors in Paducah prescribed wine for their patients at bedtime, once again 4-6 ounces only to treat anemia and it worked. THIS DOCTOR I saw in January said there was no way it worked....he said the only thing to help iron is the pills...bullcrap...I have started back on my " medicnal wine " (I am not crazy about the flavor..LOL) AND I am taking 2 tablespoons daily of Unsulfered Blackstrap Molasses (taste is tolerable to me in these small amounts...LOL) and the wine daily and I am feeling tons better...still bleeding bad, like last month, to be sure, but the anemia is not so bad as it was. OKAY!!!! I got a load of mind that this time...I am just frustrated and I know there is a better way to treat myself...my MOM is living proof...please check out her Personal story at her bakery web site at http://www peggyskitchen.com , just click on " Peggy's Personal Story " link http://peggyskitchen.com/id17.html of the navigation bar at the top of the page...there IS a better way to deal with breats cancer, fibroid tumors and most any other illness...take courage and take charge of your health...it is YOUR body, not your doctor's not your mates...YOURS! Guest guest
Gloria, your story makes me so angry with most doctors. I firmly believe we have to take our healthcare into our own hands. I would recommend finding a certified natural health practitioner. In addition, I highly recommend Hallelujah Acres (www.hacres.com) and Juice Plus (www.juiceplus.com/+kw29062) . Your mom’s story is amazing and she is an amazing person. God bless.
