Guest guest
Are there any points that a patient can apply pressure to/massage themselves for knee weakness? A woman just had olthroscopic surgery on her knee a little over a month ago. Everything has healed well, and the dr. who performed the surgery said she doesn't even need physical therapy. But she is experiencing weakness in that knee, especially when walking up stairs. She feels like the knee may give out. There is no pain in the area, just a little swelling. She also has difficulty fully flexing the knee, and said " it feels like there's something there (in the knee) that won't let me go back all the way, it's tight " Some points I think may be good are: Lr7 St 32, 35 Bl 40 Any other suggestions for the patient to massage? Guest guest
Lauren What is best is has been used in advanced teaching of Tai Qi (where I learned it). One takes the palm of their hand and places it on the outside channels (lateral to the knee) and moves in a downward stroke - pass across the knee with the center of the palm and fingers touch below into ST 36+ area...continue without lifting the palm off the body and move in an upward direction thru the Yin channels. It is a circular massage type of movement massage - working the energy down the Yang channels and up the Yin channels covering most ALL of the points in that region - leaving out only the UB channel. And then there is the issue that many misunderstand or have been mistaught in schools. The KNEE does NOT belong to the Kidney domain!!!!! If one nutritions with herbal fomulas the correct Organo-system the weakness will dissipate. Of course Kidney system can always be considered part of the deficiency.
