Well, then there are certainly a lot of places selling fakes. I have seen it

advertised several places. I too saw them on ebay by several different

sellers, plus out on the internet, there are quite a few. I am like you, if

it strikes something in me.. if its real or made made it makes no great

difference. I I think they are quite beautiful too. :)

The guy is wrong. I have a Tangerine Quartz which I got for my wand. I

got the crystal from Kellie Jo. She is a gemologist and the " queen of

crystals " . There is no way she would sell me something if it wasn't

real. There may be another name, but it's real! The guy didn't know what

he was talking about.

Best,

Vicki

There is and I have one given me by a woman teaching a crystal healing class

at the Philosophical Research Society. She brought it from a reliable source

in Tucson, and sells it in her own crystal shop.

Hi Terese I'm new to the group and haven't participated very much

as it sometimes takes me awhile to feel comfortable enough to

do so. I just wanted to share that I won a few different auctions for

(tangerine Quartz) and that two of the larger crystals appear to have

have been coated with some orangey substance which came off after

I took a white cloth and gently wiped it down. Now the other one has a

light orange tint which is definately inside of the crystal so I am

curious to know more about this as well. I will look in my books today

and see what I can find and maybe by that time someone else will have

some info.

I believe the gentleman did know what he was speaking about because

there are many people selling sprayed crystals and calling them (tangerine

quartz). As I said in the last post I will look and see what I can find

regarding

this crystal and hopefully will have more info. I have a feeling that there

is

a true Tangerine quartz but also that many are passed off as such after being

coated with something. :)

Granted, some quartz is colored, and I have been told you can usually tell if it

is dyed, as the color is usually the same throughout, with nooks, crannies and

scars being darker (where the dye settled).

I also have a wee piece of tangerine quartz - a 2 " Isis-faced cluster - and was

told the varied coloration was due to the presence of a mineral such as hematite

.... in greater quantities it can make " strawberry " quartz (the ones I have seen

are a more dull, frosted red). I prefer the tangerine - as it has a gentle

energy and seems to " glow " . Jean / Colorado USA

The best things in my life have come to me with some sort of problem

and turned into the best.

Thank you,

Thanks Vicki,

It makes me feel more confident buying now. I didn't think he knew

much about the shop and I couldn't believe he was the owner. When I

get a piece I think I will pay him a visit.
