Guest guest
I know what you mean about the video with no sound. It's incredible nobody caught it if it had NO SOUND ANYWHERE, INCLUDING THE TAPE! I've had projects I've had a stack of DVD's duplicated, and was ready to mail them out, and found that they had no sound. Ended up being a software glitch. But then I had one time with my old DVC recorder where I was taping something really, really good, and the red light was on, the tape counter was moving, so I started talking and went about an hour, doing some of the best stuff I had ever done on whatever topic that was... When I finished, I pressed the stop button, rewound it, and then went on to film the other 2 or 3 tapes for that set. When I went to put the video on to the computer to make the DVD masters, there was NOTHING on that first tape. NOTHING. I put the tape back in the camera and checked to see if it was a faulty tape, but it recorded perfectly after that. But it was an important topic and an important project, so I got my notes, got in front of the camera again, and re-did that video. By the way, you've been covertly teaching something real important in your recent clips - both you and Jack. I remember a few seminars ago someone asked me how I did video products to teach how to do stuff when I didn't have a live seminar to film (the presupposition being that they didn't think they could film valuable knowledge unless they booked a seminar). I looked at them like they had lobsters crawling out their ears, and said " I get in front of the camera, and I talk to it just like I have the person there in the living room with me, and I film it. " I really do like the PERSONAL nature of the stuff you and Jack been putting on the site for people who are on your newsletter. It's just like you filmed it just for me and are talking just to me. I think it's awesome! Reminds me of when you and I would go to Denny's or Dairy Queen and sit down and talk after the seminars in Missouri. Anyway... Back to the recent DVD's that had no sound on them. Sometimes that stuff happens. Maybe it was a screwup one time or an equipment problem another time, but hey it happens, and worrying about it doesn't fix anything. I had laptop trouble before Christmas, while hurrying to get all my stuff done before going home for the holidays. So I booted up the computer in " safe mode " and transfered all my files, INCLUDING my recent 6 months or so of work, all my spreadsheets with my ad tracking codes (for coded ads so I know where the bleep the orders come from!), and lots of real important stuff all over to my external USB hard drive. I sighed a sigh of relief that I was able to save all my data. Then I got back from the holidays, was working on some stuff, and TRIPPED over the power cord to the USB drive, pulling it off the table to the floor, and ruining the @#%@#$$%@ thing. I lost a lot of stuff INCLUDING all my work on a recent DVD project I was supposed to mail out. Q: " What do you do when you spill a bottle of milk? " A: " You go get another bottle of milk! " I actually heard someone on another person's video credit you with that, although I don't think I've ever heard you say it in person. Sounds like something you would say though. So all the notes on the product I have to re-do are MUCH better than what I was originally going to release. And on another note, I recently was doing something I needed to do BECAUSE it fits my values and my ideals, and it also lets me practice some skills I'm already real good at (because I've trained with you, got real good training, practiced on my own, studied on my own, and I'm pretty damn good at it by now!). I noticed something " wrong with what I was doing " that I had never noticed before, and immediately corrected it AND wired it in so I would automatically do the CORRECT behavior (correct meaning it fits my outcome and my ideals and where I want to go with my skills). I practiced it with 3 different instances of " A time in the future when I want to do skill X, " and I did each of those 3 instances multiple times. And it has nothing to do with " resolutions " . Instead it's based on take action for what you want, get feedback, and calibrate, take more action. Resolutions leave lots of room for " the fudge factor " . First of all, almost nobody expects anyone to keep a " resolution " . Second, there's always excuses and reasons why it didn't work. All outside of the person's control, of course. People make " resolutions " based on what someone ELSE thinks they should do, or like you said based on guilt or something else that doesn't really propel them toward the new behavior. It reminds me of the Baptist whose neighbors talked him in to becoming a Catholic and the priest sprinkled water over him to " transform him in to a Catholic " . The neighbors were all happy until Lent came along (Cat licks aren't supposed to eat meat during Lent) and they were horrified to find the neighbor in his back yard with deer meat on the grill. They all believed they couldn't have what they wanted because of ... (reasons x, y, and z), and they wanted to install THEIR guilt on the fellow who was doing what he wanted with his life. They called the priest up to go talk to the guy and set him straight about how how he should live his life.... But when the priest got there, as he was walking in to the back yard, he saw the man standing over his grill, sprinking the meat with holy water while chanting " Bornd a deer, raised a deer, but now you iz uh cat-fish... " .... Thanks for the posts, Doc! Guest guest
Thanks once again for reminding me (us) how important it is to keep on target. I stopped making NY's resolutions long ago and only recently started to program my days. You're right on target about the " boat at sea with the wind blowing it this way and that way. " Your reference to the " trap of consciousness " rings true too. So many of the problems, health, financial, relationship, etc. develop from seeds planted much earlier that if handled then would bring much different results. And the sooner one starts to work on a concern, the quicker and perhaps easier a solution can be accomplished. Even though I have little time to post, I do my best to keep up with reading and I want to compliment the participants and you. I've learned a lot from all of you. Guest guest
Thank you, Doc, Jim, and others, You have once again helped me become more specific in what I want to express - verbally and action-wise. I agree that alot (most, actually)of people do make New Years resolutions from a reactionary reference point. And when goals are external in motivation, they rarely stick. I also believe that symbols can be of great assistance to us, as well. You taught us some neat ones at your seminars. Specifically, if someone uses the New Year as a symbol to really examine their life, in order to enhance what they DO want, and eliminate what they do NOT want.....based on their ideals, of course, then it's from a pro-active stance. One of my ideals is to be leave the world in a better place than it was before. Especially for my loved ones and myself. I have to do all that I can to become as a strong of a link as possible. We are connected. One way to achieve this is to become even healthier, i.e., drop excess body fat, become more alkaline, and tone up. In addition to eating better, I am drinking more alkaline enhanced water, doing daily walks for an hour or more, and body weight exercises. The last is especially challenging cos I've not done this before. I am choosing to treat this as a learning experience, and decided that as long as I do what I'm supposed to do to make this happen, it's okay for it to take as long as it will take. In other words, it can actually be fun... And Doc said, " > I've noticed that many people blame others when all the blame are the reasons they come up with from inside of them. > > Those are called " excuses " . " Often when we are in the middle of viewing the world from an 'inside-out' or otherwise distorted perspective, we can be hard on others. I realize in hindsight (which is always 20-20, isn't it) I've been particularly guilty of this lately. Mea culpa, mea culpa. The EZ Energy Method has been quite helpful with this. Again, thank you for the clarity you provided here, and always.
