Guest guest
I may not be understanding your intentions correctly. What is your goal in studying acupuncture? Is it purely for personal interest? I really wonder why anyone genuinely caring enough to want to serve as an acupuncturist (practioner OR researcher) would seriously consider correspondence school as the way " in " to the profession. Quick and easy definitely is not for the higher good of one's clients or oneself. Books cannot train us to understand the types and qualities of pulses we feel under our own fingers or help us evaluate the colors, sounds, odors, emotions and other indicators that appear through interaction with other human beings. Books cannot answer questions or provide us with feedback in real time. Memorization of theory and being able to answer questions the " right " way according to a few books cannot possibly replace the vital learning that takes place through direct contact with teachers and observation of real patients. Even the discomfort of studying with " poor teachers " might be an important part of the overall learning you need for good practitionership. I'm not saying " grin and bear it. " What I am saying is that you might need to rethink your priorities. Acupuncture is as much about restoring one's ability to thrive amidst difficult situations as it is about needles and relief from struggles. I'm not opposed to correspondence courses in general. They certainly are one way of gathering information. I do plan to use them for some of my continuing education requirements. My expectation is that such courses will prepare me to know what questions to ask when I later turn to live teachers before applying theories I might not be understanding accurately. Good luck in pursuing your healing interests. HotJobs - Search Thousands of New Jobs http://www.hotjobs.com
