MOST of the negative responses to reincarnation come from... 1. People who FEAR the consequences of taking long term responsibility for their actions. To these folks, death means that they got away with all sorts of stuff, so they can be as evil, lazy, stupid, wasteful, blab, blab, blab as they wish. 2. Then there are those people who have been brainwashed by the current round of Christians, most of whom have been taught that all they need do is " believe " and St. Peter will let them in... (gosh I wish it were that easy;-) ....even though in the teachings of Origen, the primary exponent of Christ's teachings in the 3 century, reincarnation was a part of the original teachings, many of which still remain in the bible today, when you study with an aware eye... ....but you cannot manipulate people to do your bidding, " if they get to heaven by their own works " , which means they don't need to be controlled, nor do they need to build all those great cathedrals... ....so in the 5th century, the whore queen theodora (documented historically buckwheat!)and her hubby Justine threw those parts by Origen (and others with similar viewpoints) out, and rewrote a bunch... As always, the winner's, the government in power, make history fit their reality. (remember florida? Bush did NOT win the popular vote!) And, I don't believe in reincarnation this time, nor for the past 3 life times, either! Ps. Many of the current versions of reincarnation are just as stupid as some of the religious versions taught by certain organizations, and is used as a cop-out for talking life seriously, or for building your own skills and personality. For more on this read the 4 books by Gina Cerminara, and get real scared...then get aware...then start doing what you will, eventually end up doing anyway, someday. Or not. An interesting study.
