Guest guest
> My question is how do I make her more Patient Compliant? As you've noticed so far, this is a massive sized topic with much opinions. And I would 'think' it is very difficult to separate the fool's gold from the REAL mother-load. This one source of 'people covert compliance' methods might be a help to you. But only if you do it. It will work with her. It will work with her husband. It will work with the health-care professionals, blab, blab, blab... Get 3 things. A pen. A notebook. And the 2009 updated and revised edition of " Influence " by Robert B. Cialdini. Read the book, page by page, word by word with the 'intention' to learn from it 'tactics of covert influence' that will work with her. Take what you isomorphically understand and put it in the notebook. Do that all the way through the book. It will take 3-5 days, if you do it right. Then you'll have a massive amount of bullets for your covert influence howitzer. In fact, this is a book that I personally feel all health-care professionals should study and memorize. But they won't. It does not fit their mind-set. But marketeers will and do. They love making wads of money with little or no effort. Guest guest
Sometimes we patients need to be non-compliant to protect our health. I made my own doctors a bit unhappy when I told them that I don't want any more mammograms. I am willing to have a sonogram or thermogram that do not smash or radiate the breasts. At 70, I feel that I have had enough radiation and smashing. Per one doctor, insurance including Medicare will not pay for either sonograms or thermograms unless they are done to check on something found on a mammogram. There are some doctors on the web who say either of the first two are much safer for the patient than mammograms AND better at finding problems earlier. A Radiologist normally reads those tests so it does not seem like they would be hurt much financially if they moved to change the primary testing to a safer method. If you look on the web you will see numerous complaints from patients about their doctors ignoring problems they have experienced with various drugs such as statins and anti-depressants. Be your own advocate. Your doctor does work for you. Let them know what you really want. Doctors are human and are not always correct in their opinions and decisions. Thank heaven they don't read Cialdini.
