So what’s in this bottle? Where are the ingredients listed? I think the MOST natural way to

reduce cholesterol is through diet – why do you need to take a pill?

Hi Carol,

Cholest-Rite is made from rice that has been fermented

by the addition of red yeast. Dietary supplements of

red yeast rice contain reductase inhibitors, which are

compounds that inhibit an enzymatic reaction necessary

to produce cholesterol in the body, especially in the

liver. The liver is considered to be the main site of

cholesterol production and is responsible for over 75%

of our total cholesterol supply. Several scientific

studies have confirmed the ability of red yeast rice

to reduce total cholesterol by significant

percentages. The action of this formula was enhanced

with Artichoke Extract, Inositol Hexanlacinate, and

Hawthorn Extract. Artichoke Extract works to lower

cholesterol by stimulating the flow of bile. Bile

represents a major pathway for the elimination of

cholesterol from the body. Inositol Hexaniacinate is a

form of niacin that has been used in Europe for over

30 years to manage cholesterol levels. Hawthorn

Extract is a heart tonic that promotes cardiovascular

health in addition to combating excess cholesterol.

Cholest-Rite should not be viewed as a cure for any

condition, but rather as a natural way to help

maintain desirable cholesterol levels.

DIRECTION: As dietary supplement adults take 1 to 2

capsules daily.

SUPPLEMENTAL FACTS: Serving size 1 capsule - Serving

size Per Container (60)

Active ingredients:

NIACIN 20 mg per serving (100% daily value)

RED YEAST 600 mg per serving (Daily value not

established)

Other ingredients: Hawthorn Extract, Artichoke

Extract, Gelatin, Magnesium Stearate

You are absolutely right that the most natural way to

reduce cholesterol is through diet, however why do

people take a pill to lose weight, increase their

vitamin intake, boost metabolism, etc.?

Because SOME people are EITHER too lazy to watch what

they eat or they've got a health problem that requires

more than just a diet.

I hope this answers your question Carol.

Thanks again for responding :)

OK, but one doesn't really need to treat total cholesterol, because

although used as a medical marker, it is not connected to heart

disease. What IS connected is OXIDIZED cholesterol. Look up the

well-researched article, " The Oiling Of America " for the full

story.

So let's take our antioxidants and antioxidant-containing foods,

knowing that we can still reduce LDL cholesterol using coconut oil,

reduce VLDL with the bowel bacteria feed inulin, and increase HDL

with various means including increasing our growth hormone levels,

which can be done by taking our carb intake down to reasonable

levels and using coconut oil. All these produce multiple benefits.

By the way the Health Authorities in Canada went with the

recommendations of the researchers rather than the drug

authorities, and set the lowest danger threshold at the equivalent

of 250 rather than the 200 the drug companies wanted. The result?

1/3 of the population isn't treatable.

Several of my clients have got off cholesterol meds using amino

acids and inulin, both fundamental foods (and by reducing carb

intake).

All this is well and good. However, there is no evidence that reducing the

blood-cholesteron level does any good in reducing CHD. In fact, it has been

shown that women over the age of 60 with a high cholesterol level have LESS CHD

than others with low CHD.

The lipid hypothesis upon which all this BS is based has been proven to be

bogus. Heck, it was disproved BEFORE it was even formulated! A good read in this

area is " Cholesterol and Heart Disease -- a Phony Issue "

<http://www.westonaprice.org/know_your_fats/fats_phony.html>. For further

reading, go to <http://www.westonaprice.org/know_your_fats/know_your_fats.html>

BTW, a cholesterol reading of 265 is entirely normal!

How much simpler, and less expensive, it would be if they were to simply realoze

that virtually everything they think they know about cholesterol is a lie and

that their cholesterol meds main purpose for existing is to make money for the

pharmaceutical companies. Armed with that knowledge, all they would have to do

is STOP TAKING THE DARNED THINGS! Knowledge is Power!

The central issue, is not whether Cholesterol meds have harmful side

effects, the question is, do high cholesterol, high fat (fat of all types)

foods, cause heart disease, and will drastically reducing cholesterol (and

all manner of fats) intake, halt, and in many instances, reverse heart

disease?

Many of us have heard of Dr. Dean Ornish's research and writings, where he

claims to have evidence that a radically low-fat diet (including no more

than 10% of total calories from all dietary fat intake) dramatically

improves heart disease status, even, in many cases, reversing it.

For this one study that you cite, i can cite one hundred other studies performed

by independent researchers who are not affiliated with " food " manufacturers nor

pharmco interests, and whose studies use good methodologies. One of the biggest

mistakes such people make is equating cholesterol and trans- Fatty acids.

Another is that the cholesterol used in the studies is derived from dried foods

such as milk. Such cholesterol is rancid, and anyone who doesn't know that

rancid equals unhealthy should go back to first grade. In the " landmark study "

that supposedly proved the lipid hypothesis, herbivorous rabbits -- fer hell

sakes -- were fed rancid cholesterol -- often in quantities 10 times that

consumed by humans. Of course animal tests are useless for the simple reason

that animals are not human.

Please do not visit the following sites if your mind is made up and you do not

wish to be confused with facts.

Of course it comes down, as always, who funds this Ornish clown and what is the

EXACT methodology of his studies?
