Peggy I have this book too. It's by Barbara G Walker and called

''The Book of Sacred Stones'' published originally in 1989.

 

I got mine - an ex library book - through ebay and was quite surprised when I

started reading it. She has certainly done her crystal healing research, and

some of the quotes from well known books are quite hilarious in the context

that she uses them. As you say, she does also list the 'effects' of many

stones with historical facts and minerology, so it is quite useful.

Interestingly, even though she is very hostile to the New Age approach, she

says she does in fact love her stones, and that each morning to begin her

day, she will enter her mineral room and choose one to meditate with.

Whilst she may certainly be correct in a lot of her 'hard' facts, my

intuition (and my crystals) tell me a different story :-)
