Thank you.

I'm amazed that on one except Cinta has analized the letter to

notice the marketing strategies and tactics used.

Which is one of the two reason I posted that letter in the files.

And NO ONE has yet recognized the REAL REASON I posted the letter;-)

Especially since those tactics and strategies can be used about

anywhere, and very easily.

Oh well. Nice job Cinta.

Actually, if I really gave a shit, I'd pull out the John Malloy

book, " Dress for Success " ...

(There is also one out for women, " Women's Dress for Success " ...

....but I won't...

....but at one time I did...

And I would suggest that anyone that is up and coming in their field

of choice stack the deck that way (dress code, watch, specific

language patterns, blab, blab, blab) in their favor, so at least

you'll be noticed in a manner that will be in YOUR FAVOR!

Otherwise you'll be operating against a stacked deck, and there is

no way you can win unless you use a gun.

In my case, when doing my normal duties, I just don't play that game.

Not on the telephone, not in my sessions, etc.

But, most of the time, if I'm video taping one of my seminars I

dress good enough to get by for the image I'm protraying with the

subject matter.

Just a matter of intelligence.

Just like when you are dealing with a cop...

....you DON'T SLOUCH, you DON'T talk back to him...there's a lot of

DON'TS you just don't do...

....and then there are a lot of other things you just do do (see

archives for these)...

It's interesting about the role you are in and the words you use.

When you are talking a class in sociology, you talk about law

enforcement and " police officers " .

When stopped by them you call them " officer " or " sir " .

When you talk about them in a positive way, in normal conversation,

you call them " cops " .

When you've gotten a ticket and they are driving away you call

them, " those fucking pigs! " .

Doc,

The letter represents how to use all of the skills on a daily basis. You could have just quit going to the restaurant. Everyone who learns these skills should be using them on a daily basis.

There are many skills demonstrated in the letter, as Richard highlighted. It's a great a example to be studied so we can learn to adapt it to any situation in life.

Life isn't fair. Use everything at your disposal to accomplish what you want, based on where you are at.

Greg R.

PS. Your "bad service" letter will be studied more, by many more, if they truly want to learn how to influence -- all the master keys are there, or not.

Hi Doc, I know the letter was for showing how to do marketing and I

picked up on that and also on what Richard wrote. I got off on a

tangent for the moment when I saw the similarities between what

happened to you and to my husband. TW? :-)

I know for absolute certain that he'd laugh at me if I handed him the

dress for success book (I have it) since his objective is to be as

comfortable as possible for the work he does out in the field, in the

sun and elements. He loves that part of the work, I ask him why...he

doesn't have to do that, he has the team for that...but he loves that

part of the work......and he answers his own phone (ouch!)

On the other hand when he meets with developers, clients, etc. for

the first time for business he does dress more appropriately (no tie

though), drives his nice vehicle there...etc. He gets along well with

the cops, they all know is vehicles and who he is, the young deputy

didn't know and jumped to conclusions.

A lot of people really like him and will ONLY do business with him.

He gets all of his work by word of mouth, referrals. He doesn't

advertise at all, no need to he says. He's been doing it for a long

time, I respect his choice....I'm focusing on what I can do in my

business.

As always, I appreciate the advice that is given here.

Thanks Doc and everyone

Lori

Well, I was in kinda of a hurry when I wrote that. with only some of

the marketing points, that I picked up.

Of course, Is the other reason, so you could demonstrate one strategy

of how to handle a bully? Someone who wants to dominate by demeaning

others?

If so, if one were to use this easily elsewhere, as a Counter-measure,

here is what I think might have been your formula in dealing with the

restaurant " bully' from hell.

1. You experience or interact with a bully, because they are imposing

their ego onto you, and you don't like it.

2. You bring a tape recorder, and You Pay Attention, so you can easily

remember a true account of exact words and emotions displayed.

3. You plan a Counter-Measure for now AND later.

NOW- You stand up for your own boundaries, beliefs and values in a

respectful but assertive way.

LATER- You write a letter informing the bully's superiors of an

exact account of what happened along with your professional suggestions,

handling all objections, dealing with many different perspectives, of

folks, and energies, talking to each of the chakras perhaps,

4. Follow up with meeting the manager, giving them the letter and

displaying and dressing in complete professionalism to match your letter.

5. Enjoy having a peaceful environment, once again.

6. Go hunting for another bully, somewhere else! To practice your

skills, reactions, pro-actions, and multi-level strategies for success.

Hmm....Where would a bully work at??? Probably anywhere and everywhere.

So I might pay a couple of malls a visit, and see if my intuition can

point a few out for me.

Thanks Doc, Is this the other reason you made the post?

Is this the other reason?

Richard.

p.s. Thanks Doc. You did a nice job too.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the REAL REASON you seem to have posted it

is to demonstrate that it just doesn't pay to treat people, like dirt.

What goes around does come around on both sides of the coin. Law of

attraction....
