Guest guest
Annie, Having a heightened batch of senses myself, with synaesthesia, I can see your daughter reacting in such a way. (I feel sounds on my skin, and I taste colors and sounds. For example, my carnelian tastes hot and gives me heart burn. And I love Bob Ross videos, because I can feel the brush stokes on my skin...it feels like a massage.) I don't know if I did a good thing or not, but a couple of weeks ago I sent some pyrite to some friends who have a little boy with autism. They say he loves it, but maybe they were just saying that to be nice? I hope I didn't cause him any harm, or them any grief... Anyway, I have a six-year-old son who is a lot like me. His school tried to give him the Asperger's label back in January. He's not, I don't think...he's just too much like his momma...but he does okay with the crystals I have. I haven't noticed any of them causing him discomfort. But since you mentioned it, I'll look out for it just in case. In the past, I've witnessed imagery from books and movies playing havoc with his senses. A library book's cover spoke to him once, and it really upset him...he kept asking me what it " said " , but he wouldn't allow me to check it out for myself. I haven't seen anything like that with him and the crystals. They do call out to him from time to time though, and he visits with them...and rearranges them. I think they're rather fond of him, actually. Guest guest
Hi Jazz, I can see why your son almost got labelled with AS as Sensory Integration Dysfunction is very common with AS. You might want to read Temple Grandin's books. She was classically Autistic as a child but is now Asperger's. Asperger's is a lot more than Sensory Integration Dysfunction. From what I have read you can have SID without being on the Austistic Spectrum, in fact I am highly sensitive too although not as sensitive as you are. Many Autistics are the opposite and block out everything that affects their senses. I doubt if sending a piece of pyrite would do anything major. I don't recall pyrite affecting my daughter at all. I get queasy when I get near Boji Stones. In February I was in Marilyn Twintree's room in Tucson. We were chatting and I ended up near her shelves which had many Boji Stones. Sure enough I felt the queasiness even before I saw what I was next to.
