Perhaps the best way to clarify our thoughts on this is to return to the text? Lest we use Donna's name in vain, let me quote directly from Donna's book: On being a healer (as opposed to a trainer or whatever): " You need only knock on the door to arouse the two-million-year-old healer within you " Page 24 On spirituality, soul-work, sentient beings and humility: " I think of the soul as the spark of Spirit that infuses the body with life and the brain with consciousness...to work with a person's energy is to touch a soul as well as a body. Ironically, the deeper you enter into the life of your personal soul, the more fully you identify with your roots in the life of a universal, unifying intelligent spirit... " Page 20 On the dangers of energy workers " abusing the light " : " I know a man whose sixth chakra's more subtle abilities are amazingly strong. He supports himself by renting it out - using his psychic powers to serve and impress others - but his second, third, abd fourth chakras are not welll developed. Still, he has gathered a considerable following, and because he could trade on the gifts of his sixth chakra, he simply did not grow in his ability to love or respect others. He remains in control, has no sense of allowing a balance of power with others, and lives in a world of heirarchies where he is always on top. Because his throat and root chakra are also strong, he has no difficulty in speaking his truth or wielding his power, and he is ruthless. While we live in a world that makes gurus out of people with strong psychic powers, we do them a disservice if we do not insist that they open their hearts and tame their egos as well. And we do a disservice to ourselves if we make them authorities over our own deeper sources of knowledge " Page 160 Finally, on spirituality and the sanctity of healing: " I, in fact, love being tuned into that realm. From it I feel in touch with deeper truths and perceptions. I see beauty and perfection...To simply imagine the mystical zone is a knock on its door. To actively pursue it is a turn of the key. If you frequent this world- pursuing and entering it through meditation, ritual, sacred plants, healing work, or spontaneous grace - you know that my attempts to capture it with words are inadequate. If you do not, knock at its door from time to time...and be receptive to the advent of mystery.... Blessed be " Page 353 I think Donna says it better than I ever could, best wishes, creative_energies , " vibrationalhealer2000 " <vibrationalhealer2000> wrote: > Greetings Clara, John and Colleagues, > > I feel called to intervene here. I feel that there is something lost in translation. Not that I'm putting down the book cause it is excellent, its just that every time I ask my girlfreind to relay a message for me to someone my heavy wood personality gets muted by my girl freinds earth/fire viewpoint. Are you saying that because David helped Donna write the book, then the book is invalid as a reference? By implication does that make David's input invalid? By further implication, that the source text for this discussion group is unreliable and we should depend on the dubious authorities of heresay instead? And have you ever heard Donna contradict anything written in her book? Regarding wood/earth/fire and metal, we could consider the highly evident possibility that we are all composed of all the elements - although one might dominate. Otherwise it begins to look like a comic-strip system of labelling - a little remniscent of tabloid press astrology. We are perpetually in motion - and will never become just " wood " or " metal " (God forbid!). If you choose to dispense with Donna's powerful introduction to her book on soul-work and spirituality, and her powerful conclusion to her book on soul-work and spirituality (which she says could be a subject for a whole new book), and with her poignant warnings and advice in between, then really, the loss if yours, and it is a profound loss. It is hard for me to understand your need to invalidate Donna and David. But I am still working on my ability to understand others, and myself.
