Guest guest
Hello Ahreinya When I worked in the crystal shop I did some investigating on goldstone yes it is man made but the ingrediants are natural. It used to only be created in a monastery in Italy and the way it was created was a highly guarded secret not anymore. " Goldstone is a glass with flecks of copper suspended in it. The glass is made in a reducing furnace with copper salts added, which " smelts " the copper salts back to copper, which then crystalizes. Its discovery was probably originally an accident, from adding too much copper-bearing mineral to the melt, and having a reducing atmosphere at the same time " Anon (sorry cannot remember where I found this) Something i have realised is that those stones that have been co-created by man shouldent be disregarded as having no healing properties. I bought a blue goldstone heart and held it in my hand and meditated on it and recieved messages that it could be used for diplomacy, creativity and a few other things. I felt the energy and I feel that it depends what the intentions of the co-creator is and what your intentions are. I have no doubt that these stones have a whole consciousness of their own as do all crystals. Guest guest
What gets my panties in a bunch about eBay is that the sensationalism get bids! When I have sold items, my auction is straightforward and honest, and I don't get bids Those people who falesely use the word 'rare' or misrepresent what their product really is suck people in and it makes me mad (Its one of my peeves too Fabeku I sold some plume agates and thundereggs, and only got 6 for it- other sellers who are saying it was mined in the 40's and 50's, the dig is now covered by freeway, or its all been dug up and there is no more and crap like that get much higher prices. In many cases this information is simply not true. They'll get whats coming one day though- you can't continue to mislead people like that without some karma. I feel so bad for the people looking for a certain stone, spend their hard-earned money only to get fake stuff. Where's the compassion out there?? Glad to see we have real people here Many blessings, Samantha
Guest guest
Thank you for the compliment, Fabeku! Thanks also, for the information on goldstone, I appreciate it. I completely agree on being careful what you buy, no matter where you buy it. I also agree that some sellers have been taken themselves--that they believe what they are selling is real. I purchased a few things from a local shop, that were not what they were supposed to be--one could have easily been a mistake (labeled amethyst, but was ametrine). The other was either someone being completely careless, and putting the wrong sign on the bin, or intentionally misrepresenting the item--it was nothing close to what it was advertised as. Blessings to you & yours, Ahreinya
Guest guest
Ahreinya- > Thank you for the compliment, Fabeku! You're very welcome. > Thanks also, for the information on goldstone, I appreciate it. No problem. > I completely agree on being careful what you buy, no matter where you buy it. I also agree that some sellers have been taken themselves-- that they believe what they are selling is real. > You're right. One of the most common things is that 99.999% of " citrine " that's sold in new age shops is not citrine at all. It's a heat treated amethyst, heated to produce the golden " citrine " effect. They sell it in small crystals, tumbled pieces, beads, faceted pieces, etc. It is no more citrine than if you painted a piece of gravel golden and yet many retailers, especially in metaphysical circles, sell it as real citrine. When asked they will often say that it's real. On my list we had a discussion about this and I posted a graphic illustration for people to see to help them discern real citrine (which seldom, if ever, looks a thing like the heated amethyst you see being sold as citrine) and the real citrine. Their energies are totally different as well, which is truly an important consideration for those of us working with the energies of stones. What is unfortunate is that many people leave with heat treated amethyst and believe that it's citrine. Further, many resellers don't tell you when a stone has been treated in some way. Turquoise is one of the most commonly treated stones. It's often reconstituted, stabilized or dyed in some way, yet I have yet to see anyone selling turquoise openly admit that it's been treated. Natural turquoise is uncommon, at best, and much, much expensive than treated turquoise, even at the wholesale level where its cost can be 4 times the price or more. I could go on and on, as lack of disclosure is a big pet peeve of mine. When offering stones to other people I always make sure that I get only natural stones and I work only with wholesalers that have a full disclosure policy. It is, for me, an important part of insuring the integrity of what I offer to people. I take the same policy when buying stones for myself as well - buying only from people that operate with knowledge and integrity. Absolutely! There is some new material with red and white inclusions, said to be a variety of things - hematite, cinnabar, barite, etc. After talking with someone that is a professor of geology & geophysics he shared with me that there is, in fact, some real material that looks like this, but there is a ton of it that's fake. Most often it's fake and being sold at very, very high prices. The fake material is impossible to discern from the real material, unless you run a few tests that are beyond what most people can do. There are also clear quartz spheres coming from China that, as I understand it, are " purified " quartz that is lab created/altered in some fashion. There is, of course, the loads of plain glass that is sold as quartz all the time. Fabeku
