Question About Stones From The Ocean - Junomoon

My question is: Even though these stones have no " names " , how can I

use them to enhance my meditations and healings, and in particular,

deepen my Reiki practice?

I'm sorry I'm a bit late in replying here, but I wanted to offer a

few brief notes on the subject.

 

All of my life people would visit places around the world and ask me

what I wanted them to bring back for me. Since I was a young child my

answer was always the same - rocks. If people were going to the beach

it was " rocks & shells " . I had this fascination and passion long

before I learned the geology and the metaphysical aspects of the

stones we so lovingly share our lives with.

 

For me, all stones are magical and miraculous, even when we can't

readily identify what type of stone they may be. " Regular " rocks

carry just as much mystery and magic as a quartz crystal, piece of

moldavite, lapis, amethyst, etc. Often in metaphysical circles there

is found a tendency to overlook these " regular " rocks in favor of

others we find discussed in books or neatly polished and beautifully

displayed in retail outlets. However, in limiting our vision of

the " other " stones we're also limiting our experience with stones

that hold many miracles and beautiful blessings for us.

 

Traditionally the wise men and wise women of indigenous cultures

around the world recognize the medicine of the spirits of their land -

the plants, animals and stones that share that space with the human

inhabitants. When looking for a medicine object they went to the

forest, to the mountain, to the beach and would locate this sacred

something there. To those of us that have at our disposal a seemingly

infinite array of resources for crystals and minerals turning to the

beach and its " regular " rocks may not immediately appeal to us, but

it is in that act of turning that we open ourselves to great medicine

that can bless and elevate us in so many ways.

 

The Earth Mother is sustained largely by water. Oceans are vast pools

of life giving and life sustain presence that helps maintain life on

this planet as we know and love it. Our bodies mirror this same

dependence on water, this same connection to the magic and mysteries

of this liquid manna.

 

In addition to the life sustain properties of water we must also look

at the ocean itself. There is such enormous strength in these bodies

of water, a strength that defies words. Further, the ocean is a place

of profound mystery. Despite all our technological advances we still

do not have a clear or complete sense of what rests at the bottom of

the ocean. It is an untouched frontier that holds many secrets and

reminds us that no matter how far we feel we have come

technologically we still cannot know the full mysteries of Nature

through mechanics alone.

 

I often gift people ocean stones because they offer us the gift of

having nearly limitless strength to accomplish our goals, the ability

to grasp whatever we reach for through the supportive strength of the

ocean and the spirits attached with these amazing watery bodies.

These stone spirits can serve as totems for someone seeking to

realize their dreams or manifest their intention because ocean stones

place us in firm resonance with the force of the ocean itself - a

force strong and infinite enough to sustain this entire planetary

body.

 

Ocean stones are also stones of great mystery. These stone spirits

encourage us to plumb the depths of our wholeness in pursuit of the

deepest recesses of who we are and the treasures that rest silently

in anticipation of our arrival. In inspiring us to search deeply

within ourselves they are guides on a journey of self-discovery, of

allowing us to peer into the vastness of our spirits and to perceive

the magical terrain that is our Soul's essence. I believe that stone

spirits found on the beach can be beautiful gifts for anyone in the

process of exploring themselves more fully, whether they're a teen

growing into adulthood, a person in therapy or a dedicated spiritual

seeker looking to know more about the mystery that they are. Ocean

stones can connect us with spiritual guides that can offer us great

wisdom in our many advetures into the self.

 

Water is recognized as a medium for the spirits among many cultures

worldwide. Ocean stones can help us deeper and develop our connection

to our spiritual nature, providing a medium through which our road

can expand in depth and breadth.

 

Water is generally most immediately associated with the feminine

nature of life. The oceans embody the energies of the Great Mother,

the sacred terrestrial Divine Feminine linked intimately with the

cycles of the moon and its influence on the planet, our bodies and

our spirits. I see this being directly related to healing in all

forms because we must be receptive in order to offer healing and in

order to receive it. Further, by initiating our intuitive nature the

ocean stones allow us to perceive increasingly deep and complex

patterns within ourselves and others that could be balanced through

healing energies and intentions.

 

Lastly, I believe that ocean stones are valuable for women to

understand the magic that they hold in their own bodies - the

mysteries of the moon time, the womb, their resonance with Luna and

the Earth Mother and much more. Ocean stone spirits could be held

closely during significant rites of passage on the road of the woman,

during one's monthly moon time and at all times in order to increase

one's understanding of the power of feminine energy. Ocean stones

could also be very useful for men to foster a deeper connection to

their own feminine natures and a deeper respect for both feminine

energy and for women as a whole.

 

Just a few ideas on the subject... What magical stones you have

adopted. I am sure that they each have names and have little doubt

that they will whisper these names to you as you hold them closely to

your heart and wholly to your spirit.
