Thanks Lauren, I read the reviews on Amazon and it sounds exactly like the book

I was looking for. Cannot wait to get my order.

Lola,

An amazing book that I used a lot, and one you can just sit down and

read the passages in is A Manual of Acupuncture by Deadman...nice

layouts of meridians- primary, sinew, luo- explaining their pathways,

with detailed pictures. It is a large book, but worth its weight in gold!

PS-Lori- thanks for the post...I was trying to sum up some of the

possibilities before I see the patient...I know her s-n-s, tongue, and

pulses will lead me in the right direction:)

Thanks again, and I'll keep you updated on the progress...

For those who don't know, this book is also available as a CD and

there is also a set of point cards available separately. The point

cards, while not exactly cheap, are of high quality and contain lots

of information - good for carrying around to study. For more

details, check out:

In the U.S., these materials are available through Eastland Press. You can check

out http://www.eastlandpress.com/books/xx.htm for more info. I have the point

cards and they are very good. The cards are plenty big enough to provide clear

illustrations, but the set is a bit too large to carry everywhere. Its a

relatively large boxed card set, with 384 cards measuring over 4 " x 6 " and

weighing about 5 lbs.

I also like " Acupuncture: A Comprehensive Text, " from Shanghai College of

Traditional Medicine, translated by John O'Conner and Dan Bensky. Its a very

good book at about half the price of Deadman's text. It's divided into four

sections: Channels, Points, Techniques and Therapy. And as the title suggests,

it is pretty thorough.

Cheers,

Andrea

Hi I have both of the books that Ai An mentioned. I would recommend both.

The Bensky Shanghai book was the main point book before Deadman. It has the

BEST listing of extra points I have ever seen and also has a good reference

section on treatment protocols that is much more thorough than most of the other

books. It includes Electro, auricular as well as several options for

treatments for each disease they discuss.
