Guest guest
Damp heat is an internal condition in Chinese medicine similar to an infection in Western medicine. For example, damp heat in the lower Jiao or bladder can be the same as a bladder infection. Damp heat in the large intestine can be dysentery. A steam sauna is clearly also " damp heat " but isn't really the same animal as what is referred to in Chinese medicine. That's not to say that external damp and heat can't aggravate your condition. If you are being treated for " damp heat " you may want to cut out the sauna for a week or two just to see if it helps. Blow drying your hair shouldn't be a problem regardless. Good luck! My Acupuncturist speaks very little English... I hear things about herbs and chinese medicinal philosophies mentioning " getting the damp heat " out of the body...or things REFERRING to temperature values. So...will using a hot tub, steam room, or sauna affect my treatment? Or are these things referring to INTERNAL theories? I love to sauna and steam several (3-5) days a week. I always DRY MY HAIR before going outside.... Is this ok? -e-
