Guest guest
the new and improved title of the group trips off the tongue more easily partly as there is now no stop for the "h" halfway through - something to do with phonetics but I can't remember what the term is. It changes the emphasis somehow too but I can't access why that should be. Maybe in the first title there was more emphasis on healing whereas this one draws attention to the energies which are healing? I dunno, everyone will probably receive the name differently but I thought I throw my two penneth in just for good measure. Me likey anyhow cris - docspeed2001 Friday, March 18, 2005 7:22 AM Name change of energyhealing to healingenergies... Name change of energyhealing to healingenergies...Hello everyone,An update on the name of the healing group that you already belong to.It seemed that every time I looked up our new healing energies group I kept thinking "", and NOT "energyhealing-essentialskills"......so I guess my unconscious mind was attempting to tell me something...SO...Today, just a few minutes ago I changed the name to ""...If operates true to form, it'll be 1-3 days before they switch it over, so we might be in limbo for a day or two before others can access it.Later on today, I will be revealing a very simple but little known method to heal internal injures, so click on to get those updates.Sincerely,
Guest guest
Okay, this is a little off-topic, but I've had phonetics on the brain lately, so I can't resist... 'h' is a voiceless fricative, and, in the entire phrase 'energy healing', it's the only voiceless segment. Putting something voiceless at the beginning, like in 'healing energy', makes the phrase easier to pronounce. Plus, soft fricatives like 'h' and 'f' often take more effort to make audible, and that effort is easier to make at the beginning of an utterance. Also, the syllabic stress pattern XxXxx is more natural for English speakers than XxxXx. --David Brandt On Fri, 18 Mar 2005 14:17:43 +0100, hunter.cris <hunter.cris wrote: > the new and improved title of the group trips off the tongue more easily > partly as there is now no stop for the " h " halfway through - something to do > with phonetics but I can't remember what the term is. Guest guest
Off topic, but well... A more pronounceable and fitting name indeed. As for the change in meaning I thought I'd throw in my two cents as a linguistics student. In the old name, energy was the Adjective, healing the Substantive In the new one, healing is the Adjective, energies the Substantive. My terminology is probably wrong, I haven't gotten to studying my English grammar in depth... Anyhow, It used to mean " healing by means of energy " , now it means " energies that heal " So Cris, it's all in the grammar! David, good explanation on phonetics by the way... Have a nice day, Tim healingenergies- essentialskills , " hunter.cris " <hunter.cris@w...> wrote: > the new and improved title of the group trips off the tongue more easily partly as there is now no stop for the " h " halfway through - something to do with phonetics but I can't remember what the term is.
