Hi Amy,

I am not really certain that this list will allow me to name a specifi book but basically you are going to want one that will describe in detail how to prepare your herbs, collect them, store them, and dry them. Also, what the herb is used for and how it is used. There are so very many good herb books out there for beginners and veteran herbalists alike to even venture to name one. You really don't want a huge tome yet you should get something that is more specific for the part of the country you live in. This is in case you decide to go herb hunting in your area. There are usually some very good books that cover specific areas of the country written by people who live in those areas. This may seem to be very sketchy for you and if so I am certain that one of the other list members can be more enlightening on the subject. I do hope that this will help and if you can find one with pictures (good quality) that is always a plus. Be in peace and light.

Sincerely,

Always your humble servant in light,

Don Eitner

Hi Amy,

A nice beginners book is " Jude's Home Herbal Remedies " by Jude

Williams m.h. It's easy to read and has simple remedies for health,

beauty and pets.

One I just picked up is " Prescription for Herbal Healing " by Phyllis A

Balch, cnc.

Dear Amy,

The best for beginners and pros alike is the book: "School of Natural Healing" by Dr. John R. Christopher.

Amy,

Back to Eden is one of the herbal " bibles " I own, but I think it might be a

bit much for someone just getting started. Another that I think is great

for matching different therapies with specific conditions is the

Encyclopedia of Herbal Remedies.

Both good, but I'm rather partial (and the book shows it) to A Modern Herbal

(also on the net).
