Guest guest
Hello, I'm wondering if any of you can give me some good suggestions on how to choose the acupuncture school that will fit be best. So far I've looked at NESA in MA, ACTCM in San Fran, and ACCHS in Oakland. They all seem like good schools so far, and I would like to develop a more discerning eye the more schools I look at. Any suggestions? What have people's experiences been? Any that any of you would avoid? Any questions/concerns I should bring up that most people wouldn't think to ask? Any help you could offer would be much appreciated! Thanks, Jen jnfemm

Thanks,Jen jnfemm MT: im a first year student at www.aaaom.org one thing that stood out for me when i was researching schools last year is all the hysteria from PACIFIC COLLEGE. it seemed to me that they were trying to scare me by saying that 'acupuncture is taught in different ways' all over the place, that teachers werent qualified, that you have to pass the california boards, because the rules are going to all get more strict, etc. it really turned me off. i felt like they were tryiing to scare me into going to their school. i visited the school south of milwaukee in racine, wi, and the two schools here in minneapolis. i chose AAAOM, and its one of the best things i ever did. i shared my inquiries with my acupuncturist in northeast wi when i was doing the research. i was planning on visiting the PACIFIC COLLEGE in chicago. he said he did not have a high opinion of that school, and i ended up not even visiting. go and visit some schools in your area. meet the people and interact. thats the best thing about AAAOM. the people. here's the nationwide chart of schools. good site generally, too, btw. http://www.tcmstudent.com/schools/Schools%20State.html as far as i was able to tell, this was the best school in the country: Oregon College of Oriental Medicine 10525 SE Cherry Blossom Dr. Portland, OR 97216 Tel: (503) 253-3443 Fax: (503) 253-2701 e-mail: admissions website: http://www.ocom.edu/index.php if you want better than that, go to china! (or hawaii...) mercurius trismegistus by the way, from what i can tell so far, its important to learn the material and know what youre doing (and a great deal of the learning is rote memorization) but the BIGGEST and BEST thing you can do to become a better practitioner is QI GONG.
