Guest guest
Thanks Jean As far as channeling, to the best of my knowledge the 'definition' of it is allowing yourself to be open for being taken over by various entities- the channelers I have seen appear to go into a trance, and then the entity (for lack of a better work) actually comes into them, or communicates using their body. One person I know who does this likens it to being possessed- they allow the spirit to actually take control of them. One man actually tells me that it feels like your 'being' is being squashed into a corner while the entity is in you. My only skepticism with channeling is that I have heard so many times that these are often hoaxes- put on by people to make money, sell books, etc. I know that some are legitimate, but it always makes me wonder when people say material is channeled because it raises that red flag- how can we be sure that its legitimate. The answer is our intuition . I have a lot more faith in intuition (you're right- this may actually be a form of channeling) and actual recorded uses that people have used various stones for. When so many people have used a stone for specific purposes, then it seems to me that the more truth there must be to it. If information is channeled, how do we know 1) that the entity is a positive one 2) that the entity really knows this information about rocks and 3) that the entity might not just be a being from the other side playing with us- in other words how do we know the information is accurate? The answer again is intuition, as well as the physical evidence when a particular stone is used- in other words, did it actually help..... As to accuracy, what I am referring to is the fact that sometimes when I pick up a stone and feel its energies, many times the impression I get has nothing to do with what various authors say, including channeling authors. It makes me feel like either my intuition is wrong, or the authors are wrong (I am speaking of ALL authors- not one in particular). We may all be right, and the stones are just speaking to us in different ways depending on what we need at that time. I always pray that the stones I sell will be bought by the right person, at the time when they need them. We are all affected by the same stone in different ways, and thats why I prefer intuition and how the stone actually feels- I see books as a guideline, to be used when a stone doesn't speak to you, or when you're unsure which one to use on your client. My partner and I own a metaphysical shop here in Ohio, and when a customer comes in wanting a stone for a certain purpose, if a certain stone doesn't jump out at me or the client, then I go to the various books and pick one out for them to try that way. The books are like a backup when my intuition isn't kicking in The three that I most often used are Melody, Ken Harsh's Guide to Stones (my favorite!!) , and Michael's (which is definitely channeled thru a higher being according to the book). These three books seem to be the most accurate that I have come across, and have helped many of my clients. So has anyone else in this group been certified as a Melody practitioner? Please share if you have I am considering this, as I am hungry for any and all information! The more sources of information we have, the greater the chance that stone healing can occur and the better we can help people. Hugs to all!! Guest guest
Sorry my message posted twice ( must have hiccuped!) I enjoy a good discussion that leads to expanded knowledge (with respect to individual opinions). I simply wanted to clarify Melody was not a single source of information for her books. I have never seen a curriculum vitae included on a book cover and Melody has no website. I wonder if her publishing house (Earth Love Publishing 303-233-9660) has any additional information on her background other than what is provided on the cover of her books (they are probably closed for the weekend). Her appendix does not give reference sources, which would be helpful in doing further research. On the topic of channeling, what is the usual source of " metaphysical " information on stones? As I understand channeling, it involves deliberately shifting your awareness to an expanded state of consciousness. If channeling is conscious connection with entities that exist in other planes of reality then, when crystals and minerals choose to share with us their wonderful healing properties, are we not intuitively " channeling " their unspoken information into a verbal or written communication? Does anyone have a clearer explanation? Samantha, I took the workshop because I wanted in-person experience to learn how one was setup and run, problems experienced, etc., as I, too want to teach. The workshop was helpful from the standpoint that I learned Melody's " method " , which is hands-on - and I left with a better understanding of how to use the many layouts in her book " Laying on of Stones " . But even our instructor stressed that our individual, personal interaction with stones, and the client's own choice of stone for a session, were more important than what we would read in books. I personally prefer hands-off (applying the crystals, asking them to run their energy and letting them do their work without providing hands-on Tibetan Pulsing or sequentially covering each crystal with my hands and running energy) and grid work - but felt the need to expand my knowledge base. As Peggy has often reminded us, there is no one right way to work with crystals! The energy shared and experienced at the workshop was great, but I feel I learned as much and more from being a member of The Crystal Healing Workshop. Our class was large (16) in a small studio, which made for abbreviated, cramped and distracting (as we were often side-by-side) exercises. Two prior students were available to assist and keep the sessions running smoothly (one talked too much and was a definite distraction for me). Our instructor in the workshop depends upon her own experience and instincts and uses Melody’s books for primarily for reference, as they are more like encyclopedias than " how to " books. She admitted having a hard time herself in reading them. She relies heavily on her own intuition and uses other reference books such as Kristina Raphael's and Jane Ann Dow's - fully realizing working with crystals and minerals in healing is a continually evolving learning experience. Our instructor worked with Melody in many workshops. She stressed that Melody herself will not answer questions about " What is this stone good for – what does this stone do " since the same stone may work in an entirely different way for each person – depending upon their individual situation and healing need. Instead, Melody advises the individual to follow their own intuition and listen to what the stone says to them about how it will help in a particular situation. Ultimately, the client's (and our) needs determine which method we use and our instructor explained her purpose was simply to teach us Melody's " method " in case a client specifically asked for that type of crystal work. She encouraged us to expand our personal experience and develop our own individual style in working with crystals and minerals. Hope this information is helpful! Guest guest
Jean- A few quick replies.... > On the topic of channeling, what is the usual source of " metaphysical " information on stones? If channeling is conscious connection with entities that exist in other planes of reality then, when crystals and minerals choose to share with us their wonderful healing properties, are we not intuitively " channeling " their unspoken information into a verbal or written communication? Does anyone have a clearer explanation? > I think you've presented it very clear, in fact. If we consider channeling a type of " possession " by an external entity of some kind then the way many gain information on crystals may not be considered channeling. However, I think that what we're discussing is, as you indicated, a shift in consciousness that establishes a resonance with, in this case, the mineral kingdom. Once established our awareness receives information and communication from this kingdom. However, in my mind the real test is work with the stone spirits each day and to see the ways that they do and don't interact with you as you. See the way they interact with us on emotional, mental, physical and spiritual levels. Pay attention to the experiences we have throughout the day while working with these stones. Learn to listen to whispers because seldom do our allies in the spiritual realms - especially the stones - scream. Thanks for this thread. It's been very interesting on many levels. Guest guest
Hey Karen- I asked a friend about anyone in the UK who is Melody trained, and I got this response- sorry to take so long in getting back with you ] Melody was supposed to teach a trainers course in England in June so there should be teachers there now. The TAOMCHI (The Association Of Melody Crystal Healing Instructors) newsletters are very sporadic so I don't have a list of certified teachers from that class. The TAOMCHI website (www.taomchi.com) doesn't have anything listed but that doesn't surprise me since it is volunteer maintained and not a very updated or useful site in my opinion. I recommend your friend contact the TAOMCHI chair directly. His name is Bruce Lederer and email is eaglebear. He will hopefully know who has been certified in England. There you go Karen- keep us posted as to what you find out Blessings, Samantha
