Guest guest
Dear Doc The other week, I had to get up on stage and speak. I don’t fear getting on stage - I like the idea. But once there, the adrenalin started flowing far too freely. I couldn’t relax or remember half my material We did discuss this when we met in Copenhagen when my son had the same problem with his piano performances. You gave me an excellent answer; but the sound recording I made was not clear and I couldn’t make out what you said I did find this old post in the archives (7396/June 2007). Is this the right technique? ….. It's a Psychological Reversal technique from Energy Psychology. It's very quick and very easy to do. It is also very effective, and can be verified with energy testing. 1. Find the 2 spots where your arms are attached to the body. It's like a vertical line that is about 4 inches long. This is the Central Meridian Neurovasculars. 2. With the finger tips of the right hand, massage DEEPLY the left CMN as you state out loud, " Even though my voice is shaking I TOTALLY ACCEPT AND APPRECIATE MYSELF! " 3. Do that 3-5 times on that side, 4. Then switch and do it on the right side, massaging with the left hand finger tips. The entire process takes about 30 seconds. ….. Any other thoughts? I note that the IDD statement starts “Even though my voice is shaking†That’s too late. The IDD needs to be done before I get up to get in front of the mike and start talking †" and before the adrenalin rush happens. The aim is to minimize the amount of adrenalin that it released. IN most situations, once you're in front of the mike, you can't ask for time out to do the IDD Thanks, Vince Melling
Guest guest
What did it feel like when you started to get that adrenaline rush while speaking? Remember it, feel what you felt, see what you saw, hear what your heard, etc. On a scale of 1-10 how bad is it? Now do the IDD as if you are there re-living the entire experience again. Go through all the steps, then imagine a time in the near future where you need to speak again, notice how you now feel. This would also be a good one to combine with Doc's Secrets Of Invincibility, which is about taking the adrenaline dump and then wiring in fighting resources. Instead of anchoring fighting resources, anchor in your public speaking resources. Then when you have that taken care of, you might go look for opportunities to speak in front of people on purpose, even if you have to do it for free a couple of times at first. Practice it as vividly as possible " as if you're there " ahead of time. And Remember the Tony Robbins technique - where he got congratulated by people who had several years' public speaking experience and wanted to know how good he got. He asked them how many times they'd spoken in public, and in many cases he had spoken more times in a couple months than some of the others had over a several year period of time. Also, on the way to your speaking engagement, if needed, you can IDD " Even though I think I'm going to F this up (or whatever YOUR words and emotions are), blab, blab, blab... Then tap in whatever fits your criteria, values, ideals...
