This is just “soft of” true. If your phone requires you to dial (or

press) the number 9 to get an outside line, then yes, it’s true. This

trick could work with some business

phones, but generally not a

home

phone.

 

You can check pretty much anything, whether or not it’s

true, if you go to snopes.com.

I received a telephone call

last evening from an individual identifying

himself as an AT & T Service technician who was conducting a test on

telephone lines. He stated that to complete the test I should touch nine(9), zero(0), the pound sign (#), and then hang up.
