I am not sure that Doc would go for that. On this group techniques are not handed out like candy. You gotta pan for gold and prove that you really want the skill. First by searching yourself and then asking questions based on what you have learned from the archives. If the information was just sitting there then 1) it would not be half as much fun finding it ( and imagine what else you would find during your search!) and 2) it would cease to have useable value( If it's free then who cares kinda thing) There are tons of gold nuggets in the archives. You gotta just put your back into it and find it. I loved the quote about smurfing, and golden bubbles looks like you have been way back in the archives.... Guest guest
Actually a better solution is to print off all the great advice here and read it when you are off line, anytime, anywhere. I think you will find that many of the people on this list and another Doc list do just that... Plus be prepared if you do not save these gems they can be taken away by Doc.... Guest guest
Hello David, Doc's right. That IS a great reframe. And it made ME laugh too. Especially since I am doing something similar myself. For my own use of course. If you or any one is interested here's what I've done. All I have to do is make a new folder and choose a name (in this case, " John La Tourrette " ). Then I read the message, create a sub- folder named for the type of information in the post, cut and paste the post (including the date/group name/subject of post) and save for later research. Now that I have created the subfolders saving future posts is a snap. Just remember to highlight the relevant section(s) of the post. Yellow works real well. The best thing about all this is it's so quick and easy. BUT if you don't believe me go ahead and make your own folders. That way you can see for yourself how convenient this really is. Now I can add my own notes to the post and then highlight in a different color. All of this presupposes that I want to learn more about the subject of the post (current and/or archived). And that I will USE the information. In the past I have been weak in that area BUT now I apply more of what I learn here to my life.
