I don't have insurance -- and haven't for 15 years now, since I started my business. I pay out of pocket for checkups and chiropractic.Since I do everything I can (have eaten mostly organic for about 25 years, make sure to exercise at least 3 times a week, practice EM and EP) -- it seemed so absurd to spend $25,000 - $30,000 a year on health insurance. Which is what it would cost to get an individual plan.Which is an insane amount of money for a healthy person to pay.Which is why I think some kind of affordable single payer plan would be a good idea. When you go the entrepreneur route, you get screwed. The current healthcare system enforces corporate slavery. It really pisses me off.A portable, affordable plan would do wonders to increase the entrepreneurship in the US. That is truly an insane amount to pay for health insurance.  I was ready to advocate that position to others until I realized I'd misplaced a decimal point.  If companies begin to charge me $2,000-$2,500/month I will certainly follow your footsteps.

Only 3 years ago I was able to independently insure myself for less than 5% of that, so I'll probably keep it for now even while doing my best to ensure I won't need it.Anthony Sgambellone

Iatronic illness " Iatronic Illness " is illness caused by the health care profession.  It is the leading cause of death. In " Biology of Belief " Bruce Lipton quotes the Null, et al, 2003 study that iatronic illness is the leading cause of death. He also states that adverse reaction to prescription drugs are responsible for more than 300,000 deaths per year.

There are some some logical holes in this claim for me so I researched it a little and come up with an article that simplified the study. You will find other articles if you search for " iatronic " .

I agree with Doc and think a better way to get involved with the health care debate is to take responsibility for your own health and do something about it.  Educate yourself and learn technology that promotes a long healthy life.

The dollar you spend and the internet click you make that educates and improves the quality of your life represents more to yourself and the " system " than another complaining email.

I believe that it's everyone's responsibility to get involved in this debate: talk, write to officials, etc.

Here's an informative article by John Mackey, co-founder and CEO of Whole Foods Market INC: http://alturl.com/ar23 Thank you Fred,

I really enjoyed this part. " The problem with socialism is that eventually you run outof other people's money. " —Margaret Thatcher

And I'm not too much on talking, debating, but if you are talking about taking 'action'?That's the part that is very interesting to me.

The how-to's.The part where we, with our own skills, beliefs and intentions can and do take actions for our own health, wefare (What a despicable word. Wealth and gathering of enough money is more about self-responsibility and is better used here) and happiness.

We can all argue until we are all blue (or red) in the face and still nothing gets done. So, using Energy Psychology and Energy Medicine for personal and family health care is important to me.

We've all got our druthers, but convincing others of 'this and that' seems futile and un-obtainable.I also appreciated these statements by John Mackey:

" Rather than increase government spending and control, we need to address the root causes of poor health. This begins with the realization that every American adult is responsible for his or her own health. "

" Unfortunately many of our health-care problems are self-inflicted: two-thirds of Americans are now overweight and one-third are obese. Most of the diseases that kill us and account for about 70% of all health-care spending—heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes and obesity—are mostly preventable through proper diet, exercise, not smoking, minimal alcohol consumption and other healthy lifestyle choices. If we don't learn, then the lessons get tougher. And if attention is not paid to those 'experience's', pretty soon we've failed that lesson. We are dead.
