Guest guest
Yes. Acupuncture and Chinese medicine work from a position of treating the person (mind and body together) and not just their symptoms. With that said, acupuncture is not a miracle cure and will likely take some time with chronic problems you may have had for years. Some people are able to stop smoking just with the help of acupuncture. The fact is however that acupuncture will only help with the feelings of nicotine withdrawal (which typically last only about 72hrs) and will not help much with the behavioral part of the addiction which is usually the biggest problem with people quitting. Acupuncture can help a great deal with anxiety, but it also is best dealt with from a multi-disciplinary approach. Hypnosis with acupuncture is often very successful with both smoking and anxiety since they are likely related. In my experience skin problems do not respond will to acupuncture alone. Herbs taken both internally and applied externally will likely help more, as will dietary therapy. Epstine barr manifests in many different ways and is most often non-symptomatic (since about 95% of people in the US carry it). Acupuncture and Chinese medicine will treat it by it's manifestation. Best of luck! Chris tedd [tguenzel] Friday, August 27, 2004 4:30 AM acupuncture acupuncture multiple treatments Can acupuncture be used to treat multiple disorders all at the same visit? Guest guest
ted,the answer to your ???can acupuncture treat more than one disorder in the same session.I am a long-standing patient with several disorders being treated this way after traumatic injury to both shoulders, where conventional treatment and surgery have failed.I was one of the few left lingering too long prior to surgery, and thus functionally disabled with chronic pain syndrome, and adhesive capulitis,or frozen shoulders.Prior to acupuncture,I was in physio for 1 year following the surgery.so yes more than one thing can be treated the same session;but my advice to you is find a good and respected therapist, and start with the most pressing illness first;do not go into this with the mindset that you will be cured of all your ails in one go,you will need to be patient.for me this and IMS therapy are helping me deal with the pain, and i'm happy to say i can now sleep at night without the sleeping pills.good luck.
