The way they run it here the horses frequently fall on the jumps which are

traditionally high and they then inevitably break their legs and are

instantly shot - three horses were shot last week - which is why it is in

the news right now - the races are very fast and it is too high a risk for

the horses not to do themselves harm, apart from their riders and other

horses as they fall

 

We're still 350 votes behind the voters who want to continue - I gather in

other countries that the jumps are lower and the races are slower - here,

too many horses get killed or shot through injury - doubtless for pet meat.

 

This is only a Newspaper poll - so it certainly is not the deciding factor -

but it all helps - helps save a horse.
