Sky Father

you looked down

upon your world

watching

a tragedy

unfold

right before your eyes

You watched

as each breath

was cruelly snatched

powerless

to help

too shocked

to even cry

Earth Mother

you arrived

to stand guard

watching over

your children

injured

shocked

scared

Your white light

shining high

a beacon of hope

in the midst

of despair

Earth Mother, Sky Father

Lord & Lady of Light

let your blessings

surround us all

Blessings of healing

for those who are injured

Blessings of strength

for those who face the future with the loss of those they love

Blessings of courage

for those who risk their lives to save that of another

Blessings of wisdom

for our world leaders that answers may be found, and that those who

committed this act of terrorism be brought to justice

Blessings of hope

for a future

where our world unites

and each country stands

shoulder to shoulder as on

Earth Mother, Sky Father

listen to my prayer

that we may find

light, love and peace

in the days still to come

Please feel welcome to pass this poem on.

I wrote this poem , after my 3 y/o foster brother, who has learning

disabilities, kept telling me that the picture on the front of the papers

was " mess ...scattered...sad " that just summed up the entire week for me
