Guest guest
Recently Mahesh Bhatt has come forward for the cause and contributed to it by producing a movie in association with Ajay Kanchan. The movie has been made very well. It was officially screened in Bangalore last week, and most of you would've seen the newspaper coverage (on The Hindu and Deccan herald) for that. If not, you can find it here (along with the video): http://gmfreekarnataka. wordpress.com/2009/03/13/ poison-on-the-platter/It's important to understand the impact of this issue, as it affects each and every food consumer irrespective of their cast/social status. The movie properly illustrates how all of our lives are gonna be (adversely) affected by genetically modified foods and harm our biodiversity. It is no more a farmer’s issue alone, it’s a matter of the consumers’ right to food safety. You and I wouldn’t even be able to separate/choose a normal Brinjal from/over a GM one, if Bt Brinjal - a GM crop produced by the mighty agri-MNC Monsanto - is let through by our corrupt regulatory body. It is not only a serious threat to our rich biodiversity, it's also proven to be harmful for our health. Let’s put up strong resistance, demanding a ban on GM food/crops for 5 years, until they are proven safe for human consumption by independent, long-term studies.------------- More ----------------The first genetically modified food crop - Bt Brinjal is gonna be in your plate very soon. Recently two scientific studies from France and Australian government has proved disastrous health effects of Bt-Brinjal.
