After bringing in the paperwork, Mike Taylor left the FDA and worked at Monsanto's law firm Spalding and King, finished up the paperwork there and then returned to his job as assistant to the director of the FDA and cinched the deal for Monsanto. Circa the same time period the father of Don Banner, Monsanto's in house lawyer was the head of the patent and trademark office which opened up the door for patenting novel life forms. Also during the same time period recombinant BGH was being given to herd of dairy cows in order to produce more milk. However, during that time we had too much milk production. It

didn't make sense. However, circa that time the US government had a program that paid farmers millions of dollars to cull their herds.
