What he wants and what he says he wants are two different things. Maybe he gets something from not being on his own. Now he has a " reason " for his lack. Others control his time and his income. Accepting responsibility for his lack would take away his crutch. HE would be the one to blame instead of others if things didn't work out. He can't face this because that means he really isn't the person he keeps telling himself he is (successful, smart, good business sense). Even though he has been " on his own " before there were good reasons things fell apart. A poor economy, his competitors had an advantage, he needed more money etc. As it is, his life is " safe " and no one can blame him because it's always something beyond his control that keeps him where he is. Damn Doc, this fellow sounds like.....me! And I REALLY hate to admit that because it's embarassing. Now I've got to get off my butt and do something spectacular. Otherwise how can I continue to believe my own propaganda? You know what? It's sort of like massaging your own neurovasculars. It hurts like heck sometimes. And deep inside you know it will hurt even more if you don't. So you DO IT and are glad you did. Thanks for the story Doc. There is much to learn and even MORE to do. I agree, my question is Helen, what could he do that would help him and help him right away? He knows NLP, hypnosis, Huna, and some about Energy Medicine and energy psychology... ....so, where specifically are his blocks? > Helen
Guest guest
He needs a success ---a series of success -- somewhere 'safe' i.e. neutral - -and then he needs to transfer (anchor) those success to his career. (timeline and mindmap) Someone - early in his life (his mom or his dad, or both) made him 'wrong'. Because he is running 'atonement' circuits (work slave) to make up for his 'failures'. Resentment with his current bosses - all passive/aggressive stuff. Is he a salesman now or a management type? Maybe he'd be happy as a salesman if he failed at his businesses because he was a bad manager. But he can spin out being a salesman since you run on salesman's high. Guitar Center and Ad Specialty companies love to hire ex-addicts because it's so easy to switch the addiction.. The fear underneath it all could be address with tapping -- plus the shame..... He loses himself in the atonement circuits and doesn't have to think.... So the success could be an activity that requires attention to self - sports or martial arts...... Boy, he was made to feel wrong alot when he was young.... Guest guest
Helen, Doc, This thread brought many things to mind for me. I wonder how what I thought may fit in here... Not only does he need a series of success... three or more perhaps, I'm curious if he focuses on the past, rather than what he wants in the future. So if he did find this purpose in life, would that drive a change in action? So fear of future failure, even though he's survived so many previous 'failures' restrict future possibility in this case... And internal dialog of shame, as established by external family and friends, could be self perpetuating the fear/shame 'default' response? or not? Am I correct in that 'atonement circuits' allow him to just do what he's been doing, without thinking -- living passively, rather than at cause -- maybe even blocking the desire to find a 'purpose'? One solution you propose is for him to take positive self improvement action where immediate feedback is available... such as martial arts? right? Beyond present and future personal action, he should do some timeline work and perhaps some EFT on the 'childhood or being wrong'. He should accept how deserving he is for future success in all facets of life -- realizing that past performance does not ensure future LOSS? As you RV this person you also saw physical habits like too much sugar and simple carbs in his diet -- by removing he might feel more energetic and happier -- if he knew your advice and followed through with clear action to address these critical items. My perception is that he has a difficult time seeing himself in anything close to an 'objective' manner.... Very curious what others may think here. Thanks all! Greg R.
