I don't think it enhances the mind at all. Actually,

the individual smoking or eating the marijuana only

has a feeling of mind enhancement. However to the

observer, When marijuana is smoked, the body responds

in several ways. The user feels sedated, relaxed. The

heart rate increases, the blood pressure drops. Lungs

are irritated immediately, resulting in coughing fits.

There is an increase in appetite, known colloquially

as " the munchies. " Muscle coordination worsens.

Confusion sets in, and there may be a sense of deja-vu

(a feeling you have already experienced the present),

detachment, aloofness or drowsiness. Concentration

becomes difficult. Stronger or higher doses may

produce giddiness, stimulation and increased

alertness. Time, color, and sound seem distorted.

There may be visual illusions, hallucinations, and

even a sensation of movement under one's feet. In

addition, the user may become paranoid or feel

detached from him or herself.

One interesting result of marijuana use is the effect

on the eyes. They become bloodshot as blood flow

increases through the mucous membranes, and

conjunctivitis (pink eye) may result. Pressure behind

eyes is greatly reduced (which is why marijuana is

sometimes considered as a possible treatment for

glaucoma). The ability of the user to track a moving

object, such as a thrown baseball, is greatly

impaired. Trailing phenomena, where afterimages of

moving objects are seen, is also common.

One of the dangers of marijuana use involves the

attempt by the user to function while experiencing all

these effects. Tasks involving hand-eye coordination,

such as driving, are difficult due to sedation,

confusion, and the numerous visual impairments.

Complex tasks, like programming a VCR, are nearly

impossible due to confusion, time distortion, and

short-term memory loss.

As to your statement on anemia, that is actually a

western term. It's difficult for TCM to treat anemia,

because the root cause of anemia must be identified.

I hope the marijuana is help to you, but I don't think

that the underlying cause of your anemia will be

addressed with marijuana. You can have potentially

serious complications going on in your body if you

rely on marijuana use alone. Particularly if lung

cancer is the cause of the anemia and the smoke from

the marijuana joint/blunt is potentiating the anemia,

and THC bronchodilates your lungs masking the low RBC

counts.

Marijuana use is also problematic due to the numerous

results of long-term use. To begin with, THC is a

bronchodilator. Like asthma medications, it opens the

airways. However, in the case of THC, the open airways

result in greater access for smoke, tar, and other

irritants and impurities to attack the lungs.

Marijuana has a great number of impurities which may

vary from plant to plant. Adulterants, pesticides,

artificial plant foods, and other chemicals may be

present, and several of the impurities are naturally

existent in the plant. In addition, because marijuana

is generally smoked without any filter of any kind,

and the user inhales very deeply and holds the smoke

in the lungs, the damage done from a small joint is as

damaging as 5 or more tobacco cigarettes. Damage done

by blunts (marijuana cigars) is particularly extreme.

My suggestion; there are great herbs out there that

can be used to tonify Kidney, spleen, blood, and

nourish yin. They also have safe track records and

are relatively affordable compared to marijuana. Take

care of yourself ilhan305.

Great information ilhan305! Thanks. I agree with you

about tobacco too. I personally think that any smoke

you put into your body can be harmful. Its odd how

humans are the only species to like the inhalation of

smoke, whether it be from cigarettes, cigars, or

marijuana.

However, I still do think that there are cheaper

alternatives in the materia medica to marijuana.

Marijuana can probably get pretty pricy if a long term

use is prescribed.

What is the ratio to covering your lungs with a bio-herbal tonic like marijuana

compared to direct contact with city smog. could the herbal act as a buffer?
