Guest guest
Defensive mechanisms, shit I don't have any of those ;>, so I can't just dismiss this post, and if I don't do the drill then I will stay where I am - damn it Doc that means I have to improve and enjoy my life :> Ok, by taking responsibility for whatever happens in my life, gives me the power to be at cause (rather than effect). For example, if I am unfit, then I could make excuses and says its because I have to work long hours, travel extensively, not have time to workout etc, etc. So I stay in a stuck state because I am stating that other things have power over me. Or I could find out how I got from 'how I was before' to overweight. Then plan how I can achieve my desired state and then do step one, then two.....until my goal is achieved. Doc, What a load of crap. " Everybody " knows that God, the universe and the government are responsible. If God wanted me to be rich I would have been born into a different family. And he would have made me skinny so all the Cheetos and pop I consume while watching TV wouldn't go to my waistline. If I would have prayed hard enough my business wouldn't have failed and my girlfriend wouldn't have left me for a bisexual sideshow roadie. Just because I was inexperienced and ignored all the advice I was given doesn't mean God still shouldn't have saved me. Spending time every day doing the drills and studying takes too much time away from hanging out with my drinking buddies. Besides, if one of them wins the lottery I'm sure they'll share. Damn it! I'm an American and deserve my monthly check. And you have all those immigrants that come over here and live in poverty while working 16 hours a day until they save up enough to start there own business and become millionaires. They're taking away jobs from us " real " Americans. Ship them all back. My life sucks because it was " meant to be. " -Doug P.S. I think I just made myself sick typing all that. Guest guest
I agree. Becoming conscious of my responsibility for my life and everything that I had, up until now, attracted (or not) is what allowed me to take responsibility for attracting more of what i want into my life. Acting the same way as I always have done will bring me what I have always had so if i want something different I need to put something different in place. Whenever I felt tired and thought " damn I don't feel like treating today " , clients would cancel in droves so I took control of my thought process and after eighteen months my business is more successful than my colleagues who have been in business for ten years or more. With responsibility has come greater understanding of what my motivating factors are and have been. I believe that I chose this life for the lessons I need to learn. In many ways it is up to me to decide whether to learn them the hard way or the easier way. I think that the law suit culture, amongst other things, we live in encourages a victim mentality. A victim (in much the same way as a patient) is not empowered. With responsibility come rights and the right to have something other than that which I don't want. And none of this means that i no longer have blocks/stuff I don't want etc etc......I just have less of it and more of what I want..... Bit of a " stream of consciousness " post but what the heck.... - " docspeed2001 " <docspeed2001 Thursday, April 14, 2005 9:24 AM Those NASTY people out there are REFLECTIONS from YOUR inner mind! > > > , " darthon4 " > <darthon4> wrote: > >> With a little practice the exercise can allow you to realize that >> every thought every decision you've ever made has brought you to >> where you are at this moment. > > Yes Lori, > > I totally agree with you... > > ...and, most people will NOT take that responsibility upon > themselves. > > ...but the few that do, most of them will make it a guilt trip, > instead of a roadmap to success. > > All those steps, all of them, are necessary learning steps. > > And taking those steps consciously is a spiritual journey, the real > one, NOT the follow-the-leader one that the Jim Jones of the world > preach about. > > One form of spirituality is about taking full responsibility for > whatever occurs in your life... > > ....good or bad, it has to all come from you. > > So group, what do you think about the above? > > If you agree, then " why is that so " ? > > If you disagree, then " why is that so " ? > > PLEASE REALIZE that is you simply dismiss the above, that basically > means that a defensive mechanism to protect your old values and > beliefs have just " clicked " into place... > > ...and by NOT DOING THE DRILL you'll remaind exactly where you > currently are with your life... > > ...and IT'S ALL " YOUR " CHOICE! > > Goody goody! > > >
Guest guest
Hi Chris, I could not have expressed this whole concept better. Thanks, Lori
