agree with the idea of adding some salt to your diet. Problem is, if you are having trouble retaining salt and fluids, you are probably having trouble retaining other minerals as well. I would think about the addition of other minerals in addition to the salt.

How about Bamboo Salt. I usually get excellent quality from Jang Jiang herbs at 425-467-0667 talk to Grace. However, at the moment it is on backorder as it is made by Daoists in South Korea. If any one knows of any other source please let me know. Also possibly Irish or Dead Sea salt although I don't know as much about this internally.

Processed salt....but...it has nothing in it but salt and residue from the processing.

Mercury in the amount found in celtic sea salt is not hazardous.

I like the flavor or the pink salt, but having been dx'd as bi-polar, the lithium content in celtic sea salt is what I need....after six months of celtic sea salt I lost the diagnosis.

Celtic Sea

Salt is washed. The amount of mercury in it has not changed in decades, and

yes, natural salt has natural mercury...as well as arsenic and a few other

heavy metals.

Yes, I like

himalayan salt...but sadly, a lot of info on it seems to be hype...it comes

from Pakistan.

David,

Some of the pink salts do indeed come from Pakistan however there are some that actually come from the Himalayan Mts. as well. Here is a link to one such product.

There is no discrepancy between being from Pakistan and being from the Himalayas. K2 is in Pakistan, as are a good number of the other higher mountains in the Himalayan range.

If you have trouble associating something healthy with the urban media images that you've been viewing from Pakistan, just remember that Gilgit and Hunza are also in Pakistan - near the mountains.

I've read the assay on "real salt" ..... it really can't compare to Celtic Sea Salt: http://www.mnwelldir.org/docs/nutrition/salt.htm

http://www.healthfree.com/celtic_sea_salt.html (shows more of an assay)

http://www.curezone.com/foods/salt/Celtic_Sea_Salt_Analysis.asp this one is even better....but sadly, they don't mention the amount of natural lithium salts. I contacted the people who import this to the US (The Grain and Salt Society) and they could not tell me why it was no longer included in the analysis.

However, the difference between you and some raving maniac behind bars can be just a few cents of lithium. It is not an optional nutrient....it's essential to good mental health.

Blessings,

David

Hi,

I have a question about salt cravings. Ever since I was a little girl, I always

had voracious salt cravings. I used to spill salt in my hand and lick it

directly from the hand. I used to chew on bits and pieces of play-doh.

I can stay away from sweets for extended periods of time. I do miss them

initially, but can quickly adopt to the absense of them.

However, if anyone tries to take salt away from me, I feel like I can

justifiably shoot them. And there is sodium in everything!

I am switching to the Himalayian Pink salt which is MUCH healthier...complete

minerals remain intact.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can correct this?

Many thanks,

Melissa
