By the way, all this discussion reminded me that I have a great old

book on this subject matter that I've had for many years

entitled " Mental Poisoning " by H.Spencer Lewis. I think it covers

what you describe below....though not quite as lively as you do

it...lets hear more... (-:

 

Anyway worth a read for those who can get a hold of the book...

Yes, it's a great book.;-)

 

I remember first reading it back in the 70's and I thought, " what

bullshit " ...

Hi Doc, hi Lori,

 

It's " funny " isn't it? Very " FUNNY " .

 

I met a person I hadn't seen for a while at a store recently.

 

She told me how she couldn't be in the store for more than a few

minutes. She told me about her " Environmental Allergies " and how the

were bad and getting worse. Along with ALL her other allergies.

 

So I began telling her, (She was cute a few years ago, is now showing

signs of accelerated ageing, I used to like her so I thought I'd give

it a go...) how MY allergies are GONE. How I used something like

focused meditation, and another FREE drill developed by Gary Craig

called EFT. How EFT was quick and easy to learn. How she could find

it on the web. And...

 

....And she stopped me, said she felt " violated " and didn't want to

hear any more.

(Her TW turned on! She " imagined " something and her TW turned on! Her

protective mechanism... (I just " saw " what it is protecting her from.

Damn. Fucking shitweasel.))

sub-conscious finding a way of protecting her. From what?...)

 

(...I was NOT coming on to her. I do NOT feel that kind of attraction

towards her. She'd KNOW it if I did...)

 

So I stopped, smiled, narrowed my eyes slightly, said it was good to

see her. And walked away...

 

My violation was to her self identity. She was comfortable knowing

that the world is bad and that there was nothing she could DO ABOUT

it. Changing that would disrupt her self constructed house of cards.

That would cause internal perceived pain...

 

....And to her, THAT MUST BE AVOIDED. (And she, I'm sure has many

reasons for that.) At all COSTS.

 

It's " funny " what I'm learning about people.

How many times does a doctor have to see evidence of this before he'll start

to believe it and act on it? Why do so many doctors (thankfully, not all)

deny the obvious?

 

It seems that many people (and I used to do this, too) ignore evidence, in

the name of being " rational " and " scientific " .

People seem to fear responsibility (a generalisation, of course). Bitching

about the *reasons* for one's problems makes it seem easy to avoid *taking

responsibility* to fix them (i.e. doing something about it). " I have

problems *because* xyz, so even though my life's shit, it's OK. " A sort of

mental opium.
