Guest guest
Hello friends, If you remember me, I am an acupuncture student, an apprentice. The acupuncturist who is teaching is a great person and is always available to discuss questions, etc. However I am running into a big problem with the clinic practice. My teacher does not have his own practice, he works for a clinic owned by another acupuncturist who is the owner of this clinic. The owner is less than thrilled that the other acupuncturist is teaching me. In fact, he explicitely is against this because he does not want 1) the other acupuncturist to spend time with me during the clinic hours to take away time from his patients, 2) he feels that patients may feel uncomfortable if I am there during their treatments, observing. Both of these reasons are understandable and I cannot blame him for not wanting that. However, I am very desperate to become an acupuncturist. Going to Tai Sophie, an acupuncture school here in Maryland, would be great but I just cannot afford 45K for tuition not to mention finding time. Their sessions run 2x a week, 9am-5pm and my kids are in school only in the mornings. Plus my older daughter is undergoing treatment for leukemia and may have many emergency clinic appointments and even hospital stays during the next couple of years. I am at my wits end. I need to find an acupuncturist in my area, Maryland near DC, who would be willing to allow me in their treatment room for practice/learning. I am willing to barter and work by answering phones, keeping records, etc. I have a good background in computers (was working as computer programmer for 8 years until September 2003 until I was laid off). I also have Reiki training. In addition, I had been studying holistic nutrition since May of 2002. I am even willing to pay for someone training me in real life practice. Dr.Judy, I e-mailed you off-line too because I know you have a great practice a couple of miles from where i live! My kids will be both in school until 3 p.m. starting in September (and even for most of the summer!) which will allow me more time for practice too. Please help if you have any advise, ideas, or if you are an acupuncturist in my area who can help me filling the practice hours. Guest guest
--- Good luck, I hope someone appreciates their gift of knowledge enough to help out someone who is obviously willing to learn.
