Asking " if this dream was connected to a psychological reversal, what would it be? " , and then using EFT on the PR, has done wonders. Should I use EFT to cancel out these images? - Elizabeth: Before overriding sub consious messages with conscious programming it might be beneficial to explore the message in the dream. The message could be a very important one and a preventative rather than negative one. The gestalt approch pre supposes that each part of the dream is a projection of a part of the self and to explrore the dream from each individual part gives geater insight. If there is an obect in the dream, house, stairs, windows or animals or characters, be that and re experience the dream for that point of view. I start each of these scenarios with, " As the *** I perceive****. At the very least this is an interesting exercise and it could be very enlightening. rusty

As a person who does a little Jungian dream analysis as well as Gestalt, I know the inner exploration can help you emotionally, physically, spiritually, psychologically. A dream that seems negative may be showing what Jung called your Shadow. Understanding the unconscious, often uncomfortable symbols that you need to confront before you can continue your personal growth can be wonderful. When you have these dreams they are an opportunity. Of course, this can be another complex thing to learn. Or, you can find a person who knows it already. And you can use the tapping and Energy stuff any time to help deal with problems that arise. You can program yourself to go back to sleep and change the dream, or to change the dream content when you awake so it does not disturb you. But you won't be able to learn, at least that time, from your unconscious. Just depends on what you want. If you want to learn more about dreams and Shadow, you can check out the Dark Side of the Light Chasers by Debbie Ford (book and tape), and any number of books on Jungian and Gestalt dream analysis. I have recently had a series of dreams where I have been threatened, tortured, seen others die. I always escaped. My life really has things going on it in now that I am consciously suppressing while feeling emotionally unsupported and physically overworked but unable to change that yet. An external problem that I can change my reaction to, my coping with. I even had one where the ground crumbled out from under me. But they all were helpful when examined symbolically. In both Jungian and Gestalt, YOU are ALL the characters-- male and female, dark and light, jerks and angels. You may not want to cancel all of them.
