Guest guest
I've been seeing an acupuncturist for damp heat with spleen deficiency. My main symptoms are a white-yellow tongue coating and a foggy head that never clears. She " sticks " me, then cups my back (12-14 points), which instantly clears my head. I drink herbs daily until the next appointment. Without them, my head fogs over. I don't eat/drink dairy, coffee, or sugar, but my head gradually fogs over without the herbs and don't know why my body isn't clearing itself. Why is that? I've been seeing her for 3 months (1x to 2x/wk), and she gave me a discount on the visits, but the insurance doesn't cover acupuncture, and I want to be cured. I'm not sure what cupping does, and don't know what else to do. She's a nice lady, and I appreciate the discount very much. She is, however, 90 mins away, and her visits aren't covered by insurance. I just want my head to clear and it never does. Any suggestions or explanations or suggestions as to what to do? Many thanks. Glenn
Guest guest
Hi all, I, uhm, don't know if I'll be of much help, but thought I'd share my experience w/ cupping (I still see my acupuncturist)..they did it ONCE. Of course, I had bruises on both shoulders, and bruises down both sides of my back; my right shoulder was a WELT..they actually told me they didn't expect it to be so black..afterwards, I took Shen Tong Zhu Yu Wan, 2x day 5 pills at a time..(herbal supplements)..don't know why they didn't ask me about cupping agn..but I still get relief from the (needles)..tho it makes me sleepy..thanks for listening apchat2000 <lionhearted38 wrote: I've been seeing an acupuncturist for damp heat with spleen deficiency. Guest guest
Hi Glenn, my experience with cupping is that it moves blood, and therefore oxygen. The intensity of cupping depends on the presenting problem and diagnosis (whether deficient/excess condition). A " foggy head " head suggests lack of " clear yang energy rising " leading to lack of concentration..Perhaps breathing exercises, taichi, yoga etc. may help promote circulation of blood/oxygen to head. There might be blockage of energy elsewhere in your body..how's your bowel motion, sleep patterns, digestion etc. Check your emotional, mental state of being as this can affect energy/blood flow. In terms of nutrition, try eating more bitters green, green leafy vegetables, and other wholefoods. Eat more root vegetables, and pungent foods(garlic, onion, leek, turnip etc) hope this helps. let me know how you go. cheers Tran " Michelle D. Guest guest
Thanks, Tran, for all your help. I did read about the " clear yang rising, " and it appears that after all this time -- 3 mos now -- something should be working. My acupuncturist did suggest Qigong. I tried it, but just started a new job and really don't have the time...although I make time 1x a wk for the acupuncturist and it's a real inconvenience. Qigong seems to be the way to go, and I need to do it. Thanks again.
