Guest guest
The economics of producing non-vegetarian food versus vegetarian food is discussed below (for equivalent food content): - Land area required is five times more than for vegetarian food. The animals use grass and fodder to grow in mass. This animal mass is then processed and eaten after cooking by humans. The same land can be used to grow cereals and vegetables which are directly eaten by humans after cooking. Many vegetables and fruits are eaten raw. Correspondingly more water is required. Converting animals into food requires an elaborate industry with expenditure on health care workers. The hormones given to animals to promote their mass (correspondingly more meat) are harmful and carcinogenic to humans since these hormones remain in the meat. The choice is obvious in these days of land and water scarcity.
