It has been learnt with anguish and concern that on September 22, 2008, a mob of ex-employees of M/s Graziano Transmissioni stormed into the Company's plant in Noida, UP near Delhi, India. In their ensuing physical attack on company officials, Shri Lalit Kishore Chaudhary, Managing Director, was bludgeoned to death. Lalit Kishore Chaudhary was born in 1961; he was an excellent student, and received his B. Tech. (Mechanical Engg.) from IIT Kanpur in 1983. For 15 years he worked for Harig-India a manufacturer of Hydraulic Power systems for India's tractor industry. In 1998 he helped to start the Indian subsidiary of Graziano Transmissioni, an Italian company that manufactures parts of power transmission systems for Automotive and Industrial applications. He helped secure the land, factory construction, and setting up operations. Through his diligence, intelligence, and unparalleled dedication to work, he rose to be the chief executive (MD). He was a considerate and kind person, who contributed to many causes like ASHA (supporting rural education). He was also well known for his personal courage, stead fastness and firm principles. Alas, his courage led him to attempt to calm down the mob and lose his life in the process, rather than desert his station. The family and friends of Lalit Kishore Chaudhary have suffered a great loss. Our grief knows no bounds. The Institute appeals from the government to take immediate action to try and punish the killers of Lalit Kishore Chaudhary, and demonstrate that the keepers of the law will stand by the law. The entire community of the Institute, comprising of the Board of Governors, students, faculty, officers, staff members and alumni, is deeply aggrieved by the unfortunate death of a very dynamic and bright former student of the Institute. The entire community of IIT Kanpur stands by the side of the family members of the departed soul in this hour of grief. Hottest news and in-depth analysis that goes beyond the headlines.
