[CrystalHW] A new virus: I call it the Teddy Bear Killer

There is a new virus out there ,I call it the Teddy

Bear Killer. What it does is attaches itself to an

email and not as an attachment ,after 14 days of

getting it your files start deleting. To catch it go

to search -for files and folders - and type in

jbdgmgr.exe just delete it and it is gone. Norton

does not recognize this virus as does allot of other

protections.Hope this helps.BB..Luna

Sorry, Luna. . .I didn't mean to imply that you were *intentionally* spreading

the hoax--I should have said that too, I suppose.

I always panic a bit when I see this hoax going around, because the teddy bear

icon really is in your system if you have Windows, and lots of folks

automatically delete it without checking a hoax site first (guilty as charged,

here).

I deleted the bear last year when I got this the first time, and now my computer

is all messed up. Supposedly it is only used for writing Java script, but

somebody needs to tell my computer that, LOL.

I believe that there is a link from Hoaxbusters, to Microsoft, where you can

reinstall some of the components you've deleted if you delete the bear, but not

all of them.

Blessings to you & yours,

Ahreinya

Well, I hope that you weren't too hard on him, LOL!! He was only

trying to help you out, as you were trying to help us out. I

certainly believed the hoax when I first got it too--you are NOT the

only one!

The person who REALLY needs his butt kicked, is the one who started

the hoax in the first place. I'm guessing that those who forwarded

it, are the ones who went to see if the bear was there, panicked

(like me), deleted it, and thought the right thing to do was

immediately tell everyone they knew. Me, I'm the real doofus here--I

found it, deleted it, then thought " hmmmm, maybe I should have

checked the hoax site first. . . " Went to check the site before

forwarding the message, just to be safe, and have been kicking myself

ever since, for not checking it before deleting the bear.

When I mentioned this on another group, I was told it was used for

writing Java, and if you didn't use that feature, it didn't matter if

you deleted it. However, I have had bad computer problems since.

Maybe it is just a coincidence. I hadn't heard that it had to to

with DOS instead, but I appreciate that info too.

:)

Blessings to you & yours,

Ahreinya
